Want to get into reloading - need help!

Ok i dont know why so many ppl fear progressive presses, if you wanna waste money on a slower, single stage then go for it, a progresseive turns out prescion ammo just like single stages.

And second of all, if you wanna catch double loads, just wiegh your caritrage. SQB, 650, and 1050 all auto index, so double charging is almost impossible. 550b you have to look out for that, but you can easily just look into the case before seating the bullet.

BUY A PROGRESSIVE and dont waste your money else where, Dillon is the way to go, there shyt lasts, and they got best warrenty.

Heres about the safest answer yet I think, if you are getting into any sort of competition or league shooting, just ask the guys you shoot with. In my experience almost all the guys in those circles are eager to help anyone who will ask. Alot of them will probably have progressive set ups, mostly Dillon and I am sure would be more than willing to show you the ropes and help you out as much as possible. See all the options, try them out for yourself and know what you are getting into. Just my .02 cents tho, it worked for me!!!

I have been doing research, and have settled on the Dillon 550B for the press. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to start out on the cheap or simple stuff to move up later. I'd rather spend the money and learn on what I will be using. That said, I am careful to a fault, especially when it comes to potentially lethal endeavours! So I will take it slowly, and learn. I've been told that I could use the 550B as a single stage press, and I imagine that I could reload one cartridge at a time until I ge the hang of it.

Now I just have to figure out the rest of the stuff, hehehe...

Good call on the 550b I have had one for over 18 years and have not had a problem with it and I shoot a lot.....less than some .....but thousands of rounds per year more than most. I load in a dozen different calibers with it. I have thought about going to a 650 or even a 1050 but can't justify the extra money (and mine is paid for many many times over)
In short you won't go wrong with your choice.
