Looking for someone to hunt with. 60 in good shape with a newer 4x4 and all the outdoor gear a group needs. Having trouble finding someone actually interested in going out to hunt with any entheusiasm. I want some meat and have wasted the last 3 or 4 licenses. Got a closet full of guns and reload so got lots of ammo too. Shoot regular at Mission.

what do you want to hunt for?

Pretty much anything that looks good with mashed potatoes! Specific enough? I hunted most of my youth but mostly ducks and wabbits-nothing bigger where I was for the most part. Got a decent selection of firepower in good shape and just want to use it. Seems to be hard to find someone that wants to hunt. WTF? We got the firepower and should use it right? Besides I like the taste of venison and moose. Maybe even bear given a chance. If its good to eat I want some. Not a trophy hunter unless one happens to come along.

I've had the same problem. Everyone I knew that hunted around where I live have called it quits. I go solo most of the time now. It isn't as fun as when you are out with friends but hunting is an itch I have to scratch.

Going it alone gives you a whole new perspective. You have to plan for all possible situations a lot more. The plus is I've become a better hunter. The last three years I've taken my deer by still hunting and tracking. Every animal has been taken under 30 yards.

Going with others is great but don't discount going it alone. It has it's postives

I am in Vancouver but range out as far as Mission on a regular basis. Be up at the Mission Rod and Gun club as RSO Friday for the Youth Camp. Should be a hoot. Going it alone is ok but out in the bush hunting alone can be dangerous and I learned a long time ago that the buddy system is more fun and a lot safer. Sometimes doubles your chances of getting something too. I like the odds.

I agree that the safety factor is an issue and there are some risks. However, with todays technologies it makes getting help a lot easier than in the past.

As for doubling your chances at success that depends. I've had more than a few hunts screwed up by having others along. It's a lot tougher to control scent and two people make twice the noise. I hunted with my father years back and he was notorious for constantly blowing his nose and clearing his throat all the time. ( I love the old boy but it drove me nuts). He always b*tched about never seeing any game. Wonder why ?
