Hi all,

I am just in the process of booking my non-restricted and restricted courses as the first step to my RPAL. The thing I am wondering about is which club to join. I live in the Georgetown/Acton area and would rather not have to travel into Toronto or the GTA in general.

Any suggestions or recommendations for clubs in the west would be much appreciated. :)

Silverdale gun club!

Hi all,

Your choices are- geographically:

Galt Sportsmens Club in Cambridge, Shooters Choice in Waterloo or BRRC in Burlington, and Silverdale Gun Club.

If driving distance is not an issue:

1. Silverdale

2. Silverdale

3. Shooters Choice or BRRC (depends what disciplines you are interested in)

4. Galt Sportsmens Club

I recommend going to each one of these clubs and getting feel first hand what suits you best.

Buddy system

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does the "buddy system" dictate that I can only shoot if there is another person at the range whenever I choose to go, or is it part of a probationary period

That is correct, there must be another person present and designated as RO, before you can shoot.

I also believe that person must be active member of GRGC for 2 years before he is qualified to be RO, this is what I was told by member there.

Basically, if you do not have friends that are members already, and have similar work schedule as yourself, you are out of luck.

Now, on the positive note... Concentrate on what you CAN do, instead of what you can NOT do, FIND club that you like and JOIN it.

Good luck!

Most times , buddies are there = most times you are not going to last 10 minutes without any one else shooting in there= big boring thing without admirers and nothing to brag about.
And follow their forum and most times you got more than one person present in there
And being new, no club is going to let you shoot alone = no matter what
Being new you still need someone to tell you many many tricks of trade.
It's still a good club than ( no name ) clubs with many ( no names ) as board members.
