Hi all,
First time posting in the shotgun section of this site, and need some technical advice. I have an FEG 12ga SxS (mid-60's vintage) that I want to install a rail on for mounting a red-dot sight. Have any of you folks done this? Any pitfalls that I should try to avoid? Any helpful hints?
In the end, I'd like to see if it has acceptable accuracy with slugs out to ~50yds, and with 00 buck out to ~25yds. If not, it will at least have been an interesting experiment.
thanks in advance

Yea just weld the screws onto the barrel and file them down to fit or use tacical glue to glue it on. I believe magpul sells tactical glue for projects such as your own.

Capital idea, old sport, but I'm afraid that you're going to encounter a wee spot of bother getting it done. When I took my Purdey hammer gun back to its makers and asked them to mount a rail on it, you would have thought I was offering to perform an indignity upon Her Majesty...

Seriously, though, I don't think doubles are the best choice for a "tactical weapon platform" or whatever, and honestly, you really don't need to hang stuff off a double to make them work in their intended role.

I occasionally shoot slugs out of a Parker SxS using just the bead. I only use the reduced recoil slugs. I had to try a few before I found one that was really well regulated with the slugs. At 50 yards the right barrel is only an inch or two to the right and the left is about two inches left and an inch and half low. Just take your time and don't just look at the bead, make sure the rib is flat and level.

Hi all.
I've looked at the Stoeger SxS, but I'm more interested in hunting the local deer with mine than using it for HD/tactical applications.
North of 58, I may try some target work just using the bead and lining it up with the rear of the rib to first get an idea of how it handles slugs before doing any D&T (not sabots, of course, just the standard old brenneke 2.75" with built-in rifling and hollow base).
