want to scope svt 40

Here you go. As you can see, there's no need for rails and notches.

OK .......... so how exactly would one attach this to the receiver? I like it, just a little confused.

spring steel and it just sits ontop very interesting allright. I thought about making one like that BUT drilling the sides, but you cant drill the siderails of a SVT apparently lol

If it was me I'd want something like this.

Nice looking mount. Requires minimal modification to fit by the looks of it. Appears to be an NCstar scope mounted in. It. I would start looking there for the mount. Only down side is the scopes proximity to the ejection port....probably why there is a rubber jacketed scope mounted there.
FYI I have a rubber jacketed japanese made 4x40 tasco if anyone wants it. Looks like the scope in the picture but without a power adjustment ring.....or the SVT mount

Ahh That looks more reasonable. I thought it was for a repro. of the rusty spring steel mount.
That looks like a repro. PEM mount off of a Mosin Nagant. That scope looks like it will clear the ejection port better than the rubber jacketed scope does.

It clears the ejection port just as well as the original set up with a sensible scope. A tidied up version without the surplus weaver rail and holes in the sides is on the cards. We will then be able to use stripper clips as well :)

It's a great option for those who have non snipers and would rather not remove metal or weld.

I lucked out and was able to pick up one of these rare mount. Trouble is the U shaped retainer gave way after about 60 rounds. It was a thin aluminum and further weakened with a hole to fasten it to the mount. I made a thicker version to replace it. I have get it somehow painted. It held very well after 80 rounds.

Mounted on the SVT40. Brass direction is about 40 degrees forward parallel to the rifle so it does not hit the scope at all. That's the AK butt pad and fits snugly.
