Before the XCR-L caught my eye i ve been thinking about buying new uppers for my sig m400, in all configurations and calibers.

from SBR, to m4 to DMR.

I dont want to start this kind of thread but if you know what i mean please give me your opinion on this.

I really love ar15's but the non restricted black rifle thing is starting to get a little to much appealing...

I really enjoy customizing the shhhh out of my guns..

Do you think the XCR is as accurate as the ar15?

can you buy complete uppers for the xcr??? or only barrels?

advices please!

Hell na it's not as accurate as an ar can be however that being said maybe it's as accurate as your ar-15 with your ammo. I like my xcr as of right now I dont even have an ar anymore

If there was no NR vs. R issue, I would take an AR 100/100 times over the XCR.
The NR status is, IMO, the only advantage the XCR has over the ARs but it's a huge advantage!!
I sold my XCR-L but still own ARs.

I don't shoot on Crown land as my range is closer and I would never hunt with the XCR ( mine was the quad railed HB) due to the weight and length so the AR makes sense to me. YMMV.

this is absolutely gorgeous!!! me want..

More opinions guys ! please.

you cant change uppers as you want right? i dont know about that how does it works.

Lets says i want an sbr like that and a nr upper????

Nope. The XCR has a quick change barrel system, not the entire upper.
If you install the short barrel, you have to register the rifle as a restricted. I think you have 30 days to do so. I could be wrong.
If you are thinking what I think you're thinking, I have no comment.

thats unfortunate then. No i wont do what your thinking lol. Was wondering if anything like that was possible.

So i guess i can do what i want with my ar15 since it will be ALWAYS restricted?

if you really really want a semi NR in 223 there are now a lot of options:
acr
xcr
swiss
apc
tavor
x95

if you do 90% of your shooting at a range, keep your AR and invest in a NR semi in 308 instead

Can i buy a NR XCR-L with 18.6 in 223 and buy 18.6 barrel in another caliber if i use it with the same upper?

Yes. I believe you can get 7.62x39, 6.8SPC and something in the .270 range(?) Been a while since I looked at RobArms.
You need the M model for a .308.
You can change 18.6" barrels on the L to your heart's content without changing status on your rifle.

I have the XCR L keymod in 223. I sold a Bushmaster AR before coming to Canada. There isn't/wasn't any real difference in accuracy.

A somewhat difficult comparison, in my case as I swap barrels on the XCR L and it seems to affect the load each time I swap.

For example it shot the red box Fed Eagle 50 gr JHP about 2-2.5" at 100m same as the Bushy with greentips off of a rough bench type field position

The first time I swapped back from 6.8 SPC to the 223, it didn;t shoot the same 50 JHP very well. It does shoot the 223 Hornady 55 v max well at 1 5/8" off a rough field bench type position.

To me, both the XCR L and Bushmaster were "usably" more accurate being used offhand in the field like shooting rocks embedded in a gravel pit bank. I know that sounds odd however the XCR L Key mod is very handy and seems to do well for me away from a bench. It may have to do with the light profile barrel and trying to shoot ii like a precision bolt gun.

Note...I have only shot it with BUIS and/or a Burris Sig Safari 1.75-5 scope at 100-140m. I currently use it for coyote hunting with BUIS only. Also since I have started using a torque wrench, it seems to like the Hornady 55 v max factory. I found some Hornady V max 40 gr I plan to try tomorrow, rain permitting. I'd have to look however I believe I have run my gas on 2 since the 1st round and have about 450 rounds thru it.

That is about as much honest info as I can give you based on my hands on experiences with the two platforms.

it would be always be in the non restricted config is that legal?

Will need a kit, barrel and the bolt for 6.8 SPC and 7.62x39 as casing diameter is different.
