I can almost guarantee that this is the wrong place to start the thread but I cannot seem to find a section more suitable and I don't seem to be able to post in the dealer section.
I wanted to order a pair of Sig 226 Black Stainless Nitron (one for wifey and one for me) but all my local dealers seem unable to get any answers. I see that bacardi managed to order and receive the same gun (lucky) from Questar which is an option I am considering but I am leery of placing a deposit and ordering something such as this online sight unseen. Hate to get a refurb or something I do not want. Is there many that have dealt with Questar and had good experiences or can it be a crap shoot with online dealers?

Getting a CZ75 - SP01 Shadow this weekend to tide me over (no disrespect to that model or make) but my 226 Black Stainless is really what I want.

WOW! Thats an awesome tool. Thanks so much. Looks like a good handfull of satisfied customers but wow; that bad review also is good cause for concern especially where I'm looking for 2 premium items - a decent investment by my standards. That would be an expensive lesson to learn. Ugh, decisions.

You won't get a stainless frame CPO gun. I'm not going to say they don't exist, but... They don't exist for our intents and purposes.

Tactical Imports & (I think) Wolverine also does SIG special orders.

Be warned - It's gonna be cheaper and faster to just go with an SSE, and now that I think of it, why the hell would you order two of the same gun? I recall hearing something about variety and spices somewhere.

Thanks for the other dealer direction - I'll look into them. I thought the Black Stainless was the same model that bacardi ordered and recieved -

I wanted that particular model because I've handled the Black Stainless, the 226 Navy and the Stainless Elite while I was away. The elite is beautiful but the rosewood grips I found thick and made it difficult to reach the mag release and decocker while the Black Stainless (looks badass to me) and the Navy have thinner grips which made the switches within reach. I want 2 - one for myself and one for the wife. If getting her one keeps her interested in my wants then I'm all for it. ;)

Almost everyone replaces the SSE wood grips with something else (Hogue G10's in my case, but then again I also added an extended mag release, spring kit, ported the slide, etc, really the only thing untouched on my stainless 226 is the frame) The original grips are easy enough to sell, and it makes it almost a straight trade. But if you really need blackety-black, go for it.

ETA: Just don't bother with the Navy. It's just a retarded marketing scheme with no real benefit.

ACM - You put Hogues on your Stainless Elite? That thought had occurred to me after seeing my friends RCMP duty sidearm (same finishes but on a S&W). I'd be REAL interested in seeing pics of yours - it must be beautiful. The grip change made the releases easier to reach I expect? I love the rosewood look just not the reach. This may be my best option but I just wanted to save the SSE for my 220 @ .45 purchase. Just one of those however. ;)

Yup. First thing I did was flip the stock release over to the right hand side. That made mag changes easy, and then when I added the extended release, THAT made mag changes a joke. I'll see if I've still got a pic on PB & add it here in a couple.

There ya go: No sights, & I'd flipped the release again (failed experiment) but you get the idea:

Here's what I had done to the slide. Don't mind the "IN"s and "OUT"s, that was part of a liquid cooling joke.

Of course, if you just want pretty, my favourite is my nickel plated sissy pistol: (Probably best NOT to let your wife see this one. Chicks dig it.)

####ing thing groups like an X5, but I can't bring myself to holster it.

Just an old school SIG serrated trigger. SIG had them plated to match the rest of the gun.

I ordered my stainless nitron from Questar, put the deposit down, now the waiting game.
I contacted Wolverine and another dealer, both who said the stainless nitron I wanted was discontinued (???).

I've been meaning to ask you: How's that heater shooting? I still don't have mine.

Work and long ATT delays have prevented me to shoot it so far; hopefully I should manage to hit the range this weekend. I'll follow with a nice detailed range report and some gun #### of course :)

Oh yeah, those are badass. This might be the quickest and easiest way to go for me.

I meant to ask ACM what did you mean Stainless Frame ACM gun?

Yep, I got the discontinued story a couple of places - heres the funny thing - Sig changed their website over the past couple of days. It's no longer a "Stainless Nitron" but now a "Black Stainless". Same product number though. How long ago did you order yours mr00jimbo? Did they have any idea how long it could be?

:Uhhh, if I'm thinking of the same thing, I meant exactly that - 226s with stainless frames...

Ordered 6 weeks ago, they said 12 to24. But good things are worth waiting for, I'd rather wait and get What I want than settle now and regret it later. :)

Sig has had the 226ST in their discontinued pistols section of their website for some time now. The thing is though that they continue to make runs of them and a lot of US websites have them in stock. They are on the appoved California list and US retailers list them as coming with 10 round mags. As the 226 "black" or Nitron is just a 226ST covered in Nitron obviously they are still producing them. That's like Ford saying we no longer make Mustangs but we will sell you a black one.
I picked one up a couple of years ago and it's a dream to shoot, a little heavy perhaps but the weight really reduces recoil and I find it to be very accurate. Ironically I bought mine when I heard they were to be discontinued and I thought it would be my last chance to get one. It sat in my safe for about a year before I found out how good a pistol it is and now it goes with me to range on most trips.
