Wanted: gopher hunters in SW Sask

Kincaid is close to 4 hours away from Saskatoon. This is the kind of gopher shooting that's worth driving for esp with 4 guys. You can shoot all day without moving. The organizer I talked to said that they had 300,000 rounds of .22 ammo to give away, that's sixty cases that they expect to get shot. Most people will bring their own as well.

Since the weather for the derby doesn't look good we are heading down today. That way we we can get some shooting in no matter what. For those that are down there, keep an eye out for a white GMC with DOGLEG plates.

I have lived in Mellville and Estevan SK and would love to take my teens on a good old fashioned gopher shoot for a weekend or two, Thanks again , Kim

just returned from the kincaid derby. the day started out SLOW for us due to a small mix up but was soon fixed and quickly it became quite a fun day. lots of gophers, rabbit, deer, antelope. However not one damn coyotee or badger of which I was promised plenty. ah well, the weather cooperated grudgingly and even threw some sleet at us! around 4 the day calmed and the wind died. then it was slaughter time :) only got a few pics though. will be up by monday. anyone else make it out?

Just got back as well. The weather wasn't that great, bad enough that half of my team didn't show. My 12 year old and I shot 272 on Saturday, and about half that amount on Friday evening. Like a good driver, guide and dad I left most of the shooting to the boy. I'll go back when the weather warms up.

ya the weather was terrible. but we still managed to get about 500 with a team of 3. Not sure about yourself but i know that I got some invites and contact info for a few land owners that asked us to come back and shoot again on a nice day. gear up now, best gopher shooting for the year is in 3 weeks right before the crops start to get too tall. If anyone is planning a trip down and wants to meet up; drop me a line.

well as promised here are the pics from the derby.

man I wish that I had some of the shots on video. little buggers go airborne.
best shot of the weekend goes to my shooting partner. .303 LE open sights. running shot right in the hip (i assume) and sent the gopher in the sky helicopter spinning about 15-20 yards. haven't laughed like that in quite some time.
