Wanted: Info on .380 long cartridge

Anyone with information or experience with the British .380 long cartridge and/ or .38 long colt? Similar rimmed cf straight walled cases but the 38 long colt uses .357 diam bullets and the .380 long uses .375. Thanks......Willy

Similar to the .38 Long Colt, this was originally an 1870's vintage black powder centerfire cartridge used in single shot rifles and inexpensive pocket pistols of the day. Loaded by DWM, the cartridge was suitable only for small game or short-range target practice.

Fiocchi is the only maker in recent years to have produced loaded ammunition. Cases can be formed from 38 Special brass and .38 Long Colt load data is appropriate for use in the .380 Long Rifle.

Original factory black powder loads pushed a 124-grain round-nose lead bullet at 1050 fps.

sounds very similar except my book lists the bullet diam at .376 and that is much closer to my bore diam. I think the 359 bullet is still too small. My book says a base diam of .380 and rim of .435. How does yours compare to that? Wonder why the big discrepancy with the bullet diam? I'm using 'Cartridges of the World' book. Take care....Willy
