wanted load data for 44 magnum using HS-6 and cci -no 300 primes with a 240gr bullet

Just picked up a new Ruger Blackhawk 7.5" barrel and gathered up some reloading gear some of which I had and new items here is what I have to work with looking for load data using the following materials

Powder - Hodgdon Hs-6
primer - CCI no 300 large pistol
projectile - 240 gr ,FN berry's
using new rem brass

I have 4 reloading books none of which show load data for the HS-6 only data I can find is online on hodgdons website using a 240 gr projectile and their recipe calls for a Remington 2 1/2, Large Pistol primer and they were shooting a 44 mag with a 8.275" barrel . if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated . tks

There is no difference, whatsoever, in loading, whether your revolver has a barrel 7.5" long, 8.275" long, or a rifle barrel 2 feet long.
There is no difference in loading, whatsoever, whether you use CCI large pistol primer or Remington 2 1/2 large pistol primer.
Don't try to create problems where none exist, just use Hodgdon's on line loading data, load and shoot away.
 
Maybe do a little research on loading plated bullets in general, their use in magnums, and crimping. Stuff u need to know before just jumping into reloading. Not like loading jacketed bullets.
 
I use plated bullits and I use the data for FMJ. Not sure about Berrys though as I've never used them.

14 gr will give you a good stout load, about 1300 fps.

HS6 is good for stout loads from medium pressure calibers like 38 Spl, 44Spl and 45 ACP.

Don't go hotter than 14 gr because HS6 is too fast for higher velocities. HS7 would be better.

Most of us with 44 Mag load fairly hot, but not max, because Max is too painful for a lot shooting. Mid power powders like HS6 are good for plinker ammo.

The max load ammo uses a slow powder like H-110 or Win 296. This slow powder really needs a magnum primer for reliable ignition.

HS6 and HS7 also do better with the magnum primer.

If you have to use the CCI 300, make sure you put on a real solid crimp to help ignition. If your local store has some CCI magnum primers or even Winchester standard primers, that would be e better choice with HS6.
