Hi there,
Even though I'm a resident of NL, I have never been to the mainland section of our province. I have been wanting to do a caribou hunt there now for a while (Non-outfitted), and this fall/winter may be the time. I just need some info on people who have done this hunt, mainly people living in Labrador so I can get some good, in-depth details on best areas, times to hunt etc...Also I want an area not far from the main towns. I wil be needing a motel / lodge, not far from one of the airports, and some type of transportation to hunting area and back to town..(Names of places to stay, vehicle rentals?? name of area to hunt.. Approx costs...etc..)

I know...this might sound dumb... This info should be easy to get...but it's not....

Any kind of help and suggestions welcome..thank you..

Billy

I suspect your biggest problem would be arranging to be in the right place at the right time, given the migration. There are some fixed dates this year, but they're not set in stone. Have you given any thought to simply contacting the Wildlife Division office in Goose Bay for info? (As an aside, if you want to do a Labrador caribou hunt, I think you will probably want to do it sooner rather than later. The numbers up there are not looking good for future years).

I've lived here in Labrador my whole life and I'm hoping to drop a few caribou late winter or early spring.. Spring is the most amazing season in Labrador.. As CV-32 said it's hard to predict where the herds will migrate to at what point in time but I can get some info together for you if your still interested.. Just send me a msg..
