I am curently looking for a rifle chambered in 300 winchester mag:sniper: but everyone i've seen so far is over $800.00! I just want a beater; one that i can take in the bush and dont care what happens to it and i dont want to spend over $400.00. Is there anywhere i can get one for that cheap?

Stevens Model 200 long action, reliable hunter grade accuracy, $335 suggested retail.

If you can't find a reasonable supplier in Canada, Non-Restricted bolt actions are quite easy and cheap to import.

You sure you want a .300 Win Mag for a beater? Ammo isn't exactly cheap, some ranges don't allow it, and the recoil isn't fun for a light rifle. If you want a fun bush rifle, get yourself a used 700 or an SMLE.

i currently have a stevens 200 in .300 win mag it is defintly a good choice for either a beater /truck gun or a project base. for $400 with taxes i am quite thrilled with its accuracy. you will likely want to replace the factory butt pad to one that is alot more comfortable and stiffen the stock up *if you decide to get one PM me for details on this* . mine is currently wearing tasco glass and a choate USS stock and consitantly getting 1MOA or better with factory barrel and ammo

The easy solution is relaoding and intall a Limbsaver recoil pad. I load down to 30-30 & .308 Winchester. Tames the recoil quite a bit and doesn't cost anywhere near $2 per round.

Good point. That is if he reloads.
