Well I have decided to buy a Sig P226. I am in the Navy and want my own P226 to fire at home.

Wolverine Supplies has them but there are a few different varieties (lowest price being key here)

they also have a 'certified' one, which is essentially refurbished, any of you have any thoughts/experience with these? I don't want to spend too much money and if the refurbished ones are good I could definately go with one of those.

any ideas help would be awesome thanks.

I don't know about the refurbs in Canada, but in the US they can be a good source of bargians. If possible I would go to the shop and inspect the 226 myself and pick the nicest one.

I own a CPO SIG P226 that I paid 900 out the door for. I original wanted either a H&K USP or a P226R, but I settled on the P226 from a local dealer because I walked in and I saw it.

Heres a thread I made about it, some pictures and stuff and good info. << -- click me ->>

Very happy with the gun, no FTE or FTF on factory and my handloads. My slide is marked KN and it was MFG in April of '91. Slide is perfect, short trigger is beautiful. Dead accure, however I do not really like the "dot the i" type setup and prefer 3-dots. You say you use this gun in the navy so maybe you like that setup.

This is what you want from Wolverine. CPO SIG P226

I don't have experience buying a refurb pistol so I leave that to others but here is my 2c worth about buying in general. Check out P&D Enterprises in Edmonton before you buy.

They have at least one (new) refurb P226:
(P&D# 04925 - Sig Sauer P220 (NEW Refurbished), Black .45 ACP 850.00 )

Lots of others as well from 9mm to .45 cal. If you buy from them it can be in your hands in a week with everything taken care of by them and no short term ATT to deal with. I've bought 2 guns from them and it's a good experience. I'm very tempted by the P226 Equinox they have but there are other less expensive ones there too.

sig 226

In January I bought a factory refurbed Sig 226 9mm from The Shooting Edge in Calgary. Cost me $800 + GST & shipping (around $870 all in).

To be honest it looked like a new gun. It had obviously been refinished and came with a one year factory warranty. At $400-$600 cheaper than a new one I thought it was a great deal. Don't know if they have any more but it would be worth checking.

As a bonus I had it in less than a week.

my opinion

Save your money and get a USP expert .45 ACP . It's worth the wait, nothing beats that pistol for style/function/fun (minus the mk. 23 but you gota be a drug dealer to afford that one or a spec ops having it picked up for you).;)

lol aninchlow thanks for that but you apparently didn't even read the thread.

The USP is a nice gun I have fired it in .45 and it is nice but totally not what i'm looking for here

I am for sure looking at the refurbs. how are the barrels in them or have they been refurbished too?
