A friend I worked with did just that.
Wasn't even trying to pretend, that it was Hunting, though.
They leaned on the fence, picked the young bull (excess to the farmer's needs) and shot it. The farmer hoisted it so it could be gutted and skinned, then dropped it in the truck for its ride to the cutter.
They DID actually get a visit from a CO, as they found the bison hanging in the shop fridge, and were concerned that it may have been wild. Contact info was exchanged, calls were made, all copacetic!
Read up on the Indian issues and the 'closures' that they are trying to enforce in various areas before you decide to hunt there.

I actually approached two Bison farms that I buy meat from to see if I could "harvest" one.
They didn't seem too receptive.
Even though I would go through with one of these canned operations, I wouldn't consider it a hunt, just an opportunity to harvest some meat with the 458.
I'm going to focus on the free range operations and spend the money on the real deal.

There is a Bison ranch in Uxbridge maybe give them a call.
I found a guided hunt in Alberta not all that far from Edmonton that costs just under $9,000.
The thing that's confusing me is they say the hunt is unfenced yet the season is open all year.

It's my only option as as I can't buy OTC tags being a non-resident.
It's a lot of money for sure but it's quite "affordable" in comparison to other guided hunts in Canada.
Ever looked at the going price of Sheep, Goat or Caribou hunts?
some you are making a mistake to compare hunting a bison in a fenced place to a wild bison like the ones we have in nwt, bc, ab or yt ... i can tell you after a few hunts than the ones over here in the Yukon are not waiting for hunters ... and they will escape every time they can and they can roam free in huge playground and in the winter they re mostly higher than sheeps ...
Having hunted bison in Northern AB, I agree. They are hard to get close enough to get a shot off, spooky as hell. Places we were had no real roads, but if it was after freeze up you could get further in on the trails. Rough country, and once you did manage to shoot one, the real work begins. - dan
