War Merit Cross.... is this authentic? An OK deal?

I have been looking for a german war medal find for years and years, and am getting a little impatient. I would like to at least START a small collection by buying one or two reasonably priced medals.

I have a chance to pick up this one from a guy in the States for $40CDN shipped.

Are there are war medal aficionados here willing to take a look and see if it looks like the real deal? Is it true WW2 issue? Is $40CDN shipped a reasonable price?

Third Reich medals are interesting but there are many copies on the market. It is really difficult to determine if one is real or just a good copy. Paying good money for a fake is a real downer.

This medal is a 2nd Class War Merit Cross without swords. Looks like a good one but that is just guess. If it is real $40.00 isn't bad. Search Wehrmacht Awards and you will fine a site with good info.

It's okay ($40), I have seen them recently alot cheaper. If you want one that is definitely combat in nature, get one with the swords crossed, I think this is awarded in a non-combat role.
I think it is original, however. Can only be certain with a hands-on assessment. Good luck and take care,
