Warm Greetings from South Africa

Hi, Yall.

We were recently requested information on one of your favourite characters, Wendy Cukier, some of you you may have heard of her. (BFG).

Although I am personally quite busy at the moment in helping to set up a new NPO; X-treme Community Safety, (yup, we're 'gun-friendly'), I did introduce the enquirer, Joel Sturm (a long serving & respected member of yours I'd imagine), -to others who should be able to help.

In mails we've shared, Joel sent a link to this Forum, it seems very nice. I especially like the guidelines and rules for posting. Here in SA we also have a very popular 'gun nuts' Forum, called Gunsite SA. In its mere eighteen months of existence, it has swelled to nearly four thousand members. Nowhere near as popular as Canadian Gunnutz but then we only have about 2.5 million Gunowners. (Our population is only about fifty million and most Africans are not yet connected).

I (we) look forward to browsing your forums from now on, should anyone have any questions about the South African Gun scene, we shall endevour to answer them; time permitting.

Lastly. No, Black Gun Owners Association of SA is no longer restricted to Black people only, one must merely own a black gun, (Chrome, Stainless and camo allowed for, LOL!). I am myself a White, (originally English) person.

Welcome to GunNutz friend. I see you have heard about Windy Wendy. Heee Heee We here in Canada fight an uphill battle for our firearms as you see. Man, I've always wanted to go to South Africa. It must be beautiful. What city or town do you live in? I am located in a small city in Alberta Canada ( a long way from S. Africa ) high and dry on the prairies. I belong to the local gun club/range.

Hi. Wendy Cukier is a self-appointed firearms expert whose regular job is teaching IT at one of our institutes of higher learning. She has no back ground in law or any kind of firearms using profession. She runs an illegal lobbyist group called The Coalition for Gun Control. (Lobbyists are required by our law to open their financial books to our tax people. As far as I've heard, she's never done it. That makes her lobbyist group illegal.) Ask her how many members her gang has or who funds her, she can't or won't answer. Almost $400,000Cdn of tax payer's money was given to her back in 2002/3.
She got in bed with our previous government and got appointed to at least one Canadian UN committee/delegation.
She uses the same unfounded arguements and outright lies used by the assorted American anti-firearm ownership lobbyists.
You can E-mail her here. wcukier@ryerson.ca

Welcome, welcome, welcome Martin! To you and ALL our ZA brethren in arms!

I hope you enjoy your stay on CGN - it's a great forum to be sure!

Welcome Martin,

I was in South Arfica for a month 2 years ago.....beautiful country, I hope everything works out over there!

Rite back at yall.....

Welcome to GunNutz friend. I see you have heard about Windy Wendy.

Indeed, her name did flash warning warning lights here in the office, (on the BS-detector). But it was only when I googled her image that I was forced to comment to your member that -even on a good day it seems- it lookd like someone put her face on kinda skew.

Heee Heee We here in Canada fight an uphill battle for our firearms as you see. Man, I've always wanted to go to South Africa. It must be beautiful.

You think _you're_ on an uphill battle? Try fighting for your rights against a Socialist/ Communist disarmament agenda. Against a police force that ignores the law itself but implements its own laws against the populace when it feels like it. Against a President who can sing "bring me my machine gun" at public gatherings but will also say "its all those nasty guns out there doing the crime". (DUH). Get my point? Flippin hypocrites, the lot of 'em.

What city or town do you live in? I am located in a small city in Alberta Canada ( a long way from S. Africa ) high and dry on the prairies. I belong to the local gun club/range.

(LOL!) Not to 'stand on ceremony' but I think I have you trumped on the qualifications old chum, I'm on the National Exec of GOSA, Gun Owners of South Africa, www.gunownerssa.org - Executive Producer and host of the TV Gun Politics Documentary 'Live Fire', filmed with Larry Pratt, Charl Van Wyk and Bobby -the bomber- McBride, (look 'em all up). My NGO published the handbook 'Conditioned Victim? Your Choice! Which is all about surviving South African urban terrorism, (for the ordinary person, not Rambo's or rambettes). Previously a fundraiser -and buttkicker- for inter-alia South African Gun Owners Association, South African Firearm Forum, Black Gun Owners Association etc etc.

Used to be an IPSC 'speedfreak', IDPA self-defense freak, Committe member for my local pistol club, range officer, assistant firearms and edged-weapons S/D instructor, ('Flash-Point' is a Don Gold initiative). Community speaker on group and individual strategies to lessen ones chances of falling victim to opportunist crims, Police reservist, Neighbourhood Watch, Community Police Forum, Sector Crime Forum, Drugwatch for schools, Residents Association Chairman -for donkeys years-, oh yeah, I occasionally drink beer and smoke ciggies, so I'm NOT Superman, heh heh heh.

All-in-all, i'm just your regular old grandad really....

In Common Cause brothers, keep up the good work, keep on kicking butt now Y'hear!

SA Lady hey?

Welcome. I good friend of mine married a lady from S.A., lovely person and fantastic accent! All the best.

(Well done, good choice) Well you can ask her what my Facebook welcome reads -in Afrikaans- "Ek vat nie kak nie".

Its faaaaaar too impolite to repeat in English here, -and my French, even though I used to be a French interpreter in the Royal Navy many years ago - is far to bad these days to say it in that language. I only remember the 'M- word'. Sides, I hear you have some excellent French stock amongst you over there.

Frankly, I'd pick a good Fighting Gaul anyday to side with in a scrap, any scrap. Vive la Resistance!

Say, how about someone fills me in on the term 'Native' that is used in the context of Forum rules. Go ahead, be blunt and frank, I'm very thick-skinned, promise. Just a bit naiive in your 'Canuke ways'. (Although I have served alongside ANZUK forces personnel).

'Cookie' Cukier.

Howzit Sunray,

Yah, from memory, she was involved here in advising our glorious police on the implementation of the Gun Registry too, (the IT link perhaps?). She was never to my knowledge involved in actively promoting the Gun Free madness here. Having said that, people of her her ilk were, Adele Kirsten, ('AK47' to us), Sheena T Duncan, (STD to us), Margy Keegan, (MK to us- BTW also the Acronym for MKhonto Sizwe, the armed wing of the ANC).

But 'Cookie' shares the same MO as our homegrown gungrabbers, (actually they're usually very professional yanks, the 'activists-for-hire' brigade. Funded by -as you well know- OFS, they rake in millions as full time political activists.

Promoting 'Public Safety' (yeah right!), they fool the idiots by repeating the same mantra over and over again untill even sensible people fall for it. Truth is, once you start analysing their claptrap, it falls apart every time.

Worse thing you can do though -in a public forum anyway- is to openly take them seriously, they can't abide being made fools of. Mainly of course because they aren't, they just hate being made to look that way, -not taken seriously.

Trust me, I've done the TV thing, the Radio thing, (live and pre-recorded) the Newspaper thing, articles, letters, the full nine yards. the trick is to adopt their own strategy, soundbytes, very well thought-out ones but supremely profound. You can't and won't keep anyones attention for more than ten seconds, use those seconds wisely.

Any 'sale' (and selling a concept is still a sale, trust me), consists of five distinct phases, Attention, Interest, Desire, Conviction and Close. Given that 'TV time' for example is worth about CAD 70,000 per second -if and when you get it, so you'd better gear yourself up fo maximum penetration of peoples minds, I assure you, your government will, and does.

Essentially, you must lower yourself to the lowest common denominator when you get 'public space' i.e. airtime. As an ex sales trainer, I implore you to remember that you need the intelligence to grasp the 'sales problem' and talk ONLY AT THE LEVEL OF YOUR 'CUSTOMER', (i.e the great unwashed/ unarmed).

Because they -and only they- will be your saviour, their acceptance of your function in their lives wellbeing will eventually set you free from the Gun-grabbers.

And so endeth the first rant, LOL!

In Common Cause.

Who am I?

Martin tu. Who are you on GunSite? Perhaps we can learn from each other.

Thats an easy one Denn, I'm Martin_tu wherever I go. In fact I think I have more on me on Google via my Nick than on my real name. LOL!

(Ignore the Dating sites I visit, thats just to Phish for more GunRights nuts like myself, oh yeah and to 'search and destroy' any anti-arguments amongst the singles. I'm happily married for 39 years, -to the same woman, heh heh heh .)

Although there is a slight downside to being 'visible' online, the upside is that you know you can't BS people, someone will always catch you out. As my old dear-departed Gran used to say, "Nothing in life beats the truth, you are what you are and anything else is crap". (She was a grassroots person herself).

As for learning, yes, of course we can learn, at fifty nine next birthday myself, I can assure you that one never stops learning. Life is a study. (grasshopper).

Sharing our mutual experience can only lead to a deeper understanding of what we are up against and how to combat our true enemy, the 'one-worlders'.

In Common Cause brother,

Welcome on board Martin.

One day I'd love to visit SA and Zim. Preferably shooting IPSC while I'm there.

Again. Welcome Martin tu. I certainly don't have the credentials that you do or the experience. I only support the one lobby group (NFA) I suppose I should join up with more groups to help our cause. I am facinated by the interaction on GunSite ( of which I am now a member) I am experiencing culture shock on the South African site and trying to get used to the acronyms and local slang used there. It looks like many people live in fortified homes with gates etc. armed and ready for the worst. So much to learn!!
