Warm up shots?

I don't see any difference in terms of barrel temperature, but my 10/22 usually shoots better after a few fouling shots after the bore is cleaned.

I have noticed the same thing with mine, lots of people I have talked to called it "seasoning the barrel". Each 22LR ammo has its own different bullet shape and coating on it. The coating builds up in the barrel to a point and helps to reduce friction and fowling. As far as I know anyways:redface:. Mine does not start to tighten up until usually between 50-100 rounds. I don't know about "warm up" or temerature change though that is a different story.

I alway hunt with a centrefire bore seasoned by a group at the range to confirm zero, paying most attention to the first shot on a cold bore. I don't make adjustments unless the first shot is off. If number 3 starts to wander slightly, that could be heat induced, so I ignore it. With a 22 at 50 yards trying to punch the smallest groups, its seems like after 5 shots or so, the groupings tighten. It could just be the shooter, but I sense there is more to it than that.

Zeroing a CCB (clean, cold bore) is an excercise in both skill and patience....:)

There's not rule set in stone about it.
I never cleaned the bore of my Savage 0.22 bull barrel. An oily patch and that's it. I do clean the bolt/action though. After many thousands of rounds it still groups nicely.
My other Savage, the 30-06 shoots dead on from a clean cold bore.
Your mileage might vary.

edit: since I got a 22 brush in the last cleaning kit, I'm tempted to clean the 22LR just to see what happens to the groups.
