[WARNING TAVOR OWNERS] I found a problem using Pmags in the Tavor, could harm rifle.

I do not think the problem is as bad in the Tavor as the SCAR .. But when i insert a loaded pmag my bolt hold open moves up a bit, with a IWI mag it does not .. I will post a macro pic tomorrow of my bolt open tab and you can see the damage on it .. the round count on my rifle is about 1500 using only pmags and LAR mags..

Looking forward to your pics... not looking forward to comparing it with my bolt hold open. :(

So I kindof have video of it. Its hard to get a camera in there!

Check it out

Only one of my P-mags caused that problem. I've probably run 100-200 rounds through P-mags and don't see any major scuffing or scarring on my bolt hold open. But maybe its there and I just don't know what I'm looking for.

I modified all of mine anyways, just to be on the safe side. If a mag breaks because its been under the dremel thats okay by me, as long as it isn't monkeying with my gun.

Question: are all the followers the same on all of your PMAGs? The reason I ask is that Magpul made a very minor follower change in the past year, and some 30-round PMAGs may have different follower versions.

Hmmm . . . nope they all look the same to me! I thought it was the feed lips (or just below) that was catching, not the follower?

It's really subtle. We noticed that around a year ago we saw some problems on Norincos where the bolt wouldn't hold open after the last round, but this wasn't an issue with EMAGs or 20-round PMAGs. I was able to compare some older (latest generation) 30-round PMAGs with some of the newer ones and sure enough - they'd changed the follower design.

I've seen the video with the SCAR and if there's an issue with the Tavor it's extremely subtle (from what I could see, anyway) by comparison. I honestly couldn't detect any movement in the video (but arguably it's been a long day). Any damage to the bolt hold open on your Tavor?

I definitely saw it jump once. Don't know that I captured it very well :(

But it seems to reseat right back in place! I think I was probably over-zealous, because my bolt hold open looks squeaky clean.

I really should consider buying some emags to see how they perform too.

Oddly enough I have had problems with the bolt not holding open! But that was with IWI mags in the cold, so who knows?

So no problems with the IWI, LAR-15 or steel magazines then?

I borrow the Lars I shoot from a buddy with an XCR. So I didn't get to test them tonight. I should probably buy some of those before the Emags. But everything seemed to work fine! Which is good, as I just picked up another brick of ammo, and have designs on the mountains tomorrow.
