The boys decided to get out and set up camp for the upcoming sheep/elk hunt. We rode out and cleaned up camp and put of the horse corrals. I figured....why not share just a few pics. At higher elevations, the temperature was a lot more bareable then in the low lands. I know somebody who's heart is going thumpety thump.....:D 24km ride in.

Nice pics guys. Is that solid rock where there is no green? That would be some fun to take the horses on eh.Oops ahhhhhhhhhhh.Lots of rock burn he he.

Dang! I can't wait till my riding skills get better so I can get on rides and hunts like that, now if I could just get in more than once a week riding time. I only started taking riding horses alot more seriously this spring, it seems I am the only one left in the family that doesn't have anything to with or own a horse, hope to change that at some point in time soon.

Yes that is solid rock, down below it is shale. No, the horses don't go up there unless you are suicidal :D But the more gentle so to speak grass slopes is where you will catch the sheep moving from grazing to bedding down areas. The idea is to get above the sheep, they will catch most any movement below them. So, sheep hunting does mean that you must get up into the rocks to stalk them below, generally speaking. You can get lucky and sneek up on them at similar elevation. The horses get you in the general area. Usually they are tied up out of view in the tree line, then the fun begins. This ride was 24 kms in. Trophy sized elk are also a good possibility in this country as is Mr. Grizz. But, the best reward is to be alive and breathing in THIS country.

We have mountains in Toronto!

They are made of bulls**t, but....

Don't forget the mountains of garbage too.:p

Toronto could fill the valley, in the first picture, with garbage in one day. Better not give miller any ideas.
