From evil, slowly back to the light side.

No more tonight.

Stuck on deteriorating slip-on pad, black electrical tape, masking tape, Foam, brown paint.
Oh yes, missing original metal butt plate.

Back to first rifle shown in this thread done early sunday evening.

Found out that tapping a small hammer along the edges of the stuck on rubber helps greatly to release it.
For oil I'm using the licorice smelling spray called Jig-A-Loo.

One rather silly question - why would anyone want to put a recoil pad on a K31? It's gotta be one of the sweetest, lowest-recoiling rifles around (after the 6.5X55, of course)

Imagine an 80 year old shooting prone 60-100 rounds for his military and club matches in one day who can't afford a proper shooting jacket.
Also had as young as an 8 year girl and an 80 odd year old woman shoot.

Absolutely, guess those Quebeckers are way wimpier than the rest of us. Must be those heated construction out houses. :)

Grizz

Translation from Swiss (Quebeckers) to Engrish;

It's a small price to pay to keep a 80 and 8 year old on the line, shooting prone, for 60-100 rounds at club matches in one day!

Oddly enough, I remember when I was shooting with the Swiss Club at Winona, Ontario, there where a lot of elderly and young on the firing line.

They where dedicated to being there.

Every time was like a small Schützenfest.

To the Swiss, it's a way of life.

Too bad for Canada that we do not have the same mentality, for we would not be experiencing the problems that we have today.

You just brought back a memory and a lesson all in one to me.

Thank You Sir..

Keep up the great work.

I looked at those names and pics, some looked real familiar, but toooo d@m long ago for me.

An older gentleman that I knew (Mechanical Engineer if I recall) lived in Toronto and he did a lot of gunsmith work on the K 31's.

One he even converted to .308

I really have to get back into it this year.
