Hope this isn't a dumb question. From my understanding, the SKS Wartak rail deflects
shells to the side. I have a lot of reloadable brass, does the Wartak chew up brass?
I just bought one, haven't got it yet, the brass thing just occurred to me.

I have it and to my experience non of the brass that ejected out of my sks and ejected damaged due to the rail...you will be glad to hear though they don't shoot so far away from you so collecting them is easier.
I have a bag of shells and non damaged so if it does it may only be one or two.
If someone has had a bad experience please add to this.
Glenn.

I don't reload but it should be fine. Just put industrial velcro (Home Depot) where the brass hits the rail and possibility scope ring so nothing gets dinged up. I'll PM you a link to a video in my Dropbox and you will see what this guy did. It's what I have done and it protects everything.

It may... I never really noticed, but i do remember the brass hitting the rail hard enough to eventually put little nicks in the aluminum here and here. I put a strip of industrial strength Velcro (the fuzzy side) on the deflector portion of the rail which eliminated any more occurrences of that happening, i presume it wouldve also helped to protect the brass aswell. You could also try this mod in the DIY sticky for the Red rifle section that involve dremeling, or milling a portion of the SKS's receiver where the casings fly out, Ive done this to my SKS and the mod is unnoticeable until you point it out to someone; and it results in significantly lowering the trajectory of the ejected casings. That way, they will not hit the rail as hard; if they even hit the rail at all.
