Was Bassett mount, NOW Scope shoot results

Ours will work with a regular stock but we're designing a stock that will work in tandem with the mount specificly. The idea being that you stabilize the barrel with the mount rather then the stock.

Don't you just LOVE doing spontanious, spur of the moment decisions?
Well, theres no FREAKIN' going back now.
Chopped off 3 notches with a fine bladed hacksaw then filed the end smooth and painted it flat black.

It looks like you did a much better job on yours than I did on mine. I'm going to have to do a bit of work to square the cut on mine.

Your comment about eye relief was also a problem I had. Also...one very interesting point. I looked at the rifle just before I decided to cut...the zoom adjustment ring was contacting the back of the mount! I KNOW it wasn't when I started shooting yesterday cause I adjusted for the longer range from 25 to 50 and it wasn't rubbing then. Strange though cause after noticing just now, I tried to twist the scope and it was in there TIGHT.
So, when the paint dries, I'll remount it and install the scope and wait for another warm weekend to test it out. (1 hr drive to the range)

Interesting that you had slippage issues too, although I'd think that that would be a ring problem rather than a mount problem. Maybe it was a temperature issue? The rings that slipped on mine were clearly inadequate. The new ones are a lot better, I think, but I'm still going to be tightening them very carefully...

Well,..heres the one I ended up with.
It utilizes the dovetail. The replacement part where the stripper guide went is a VERY snug fit neeting a mallet to get it into place. Replaced the roll pin, and tightened up the 2 (dovetail piece) set screws with red loctite. The 2 side screws are also loctited in.
Its a "see through" and does allow me to use the peep sight if I wish

i dont want to rag on your mount, it may work out better than mine..

but i managed to dent the mount with my scope rings ...

even though it feels beefy it must have been flexing because there were rubmarks on the scope where the edges of the rings were, and the scope got loose quick despite loctite.

and if you dont clean your action thuroughly before firing be prepared for a nice jet of dirty gasses in the eye when you fire your first shot.
( had a lil too much oil in there somewhere somehow )

i ended up with a springfield mount. worked much better

When I was standing at the counter being served the guy brings me 3 sets of rings, B-Square for $25, Leupold for $69, and I think Weaver? for $69 as well. So, being the cheap Scottish bastard that I am...I get the B-Square. :)

Temp issue?..Dunno...it WAS +9 here on Saturday. Cripey, if I'm gonna deer hunt into Oct. I'm gonna be screwed if I need constant room temperature temps outside. :D
I do not feel comfortable with the screws for the caps that hold your scope in. They seemed to be *rounding out* inside...or maybe my allen key was rounding off. Anyone know of a source for new screws and a better allen screw key?

You dented the mount tightening the rings??? Was your mount aluminum with *steel* rings?
I'm wondering if by shortening it a few notches if that will take out any flex?
As for the oil? I haven't cleaned mine since I de-cozmolined it LAST january :D

Oh, BTW...got my Marstar stainless spring guide in the mail today. I installed it and cycled the action...it definately seems to take less effort to pull back the bolt than before the swap. The spring is DEFINATELY straight now. No coil twist curving in the spring now. Hope this is a plus.
