Was thinking of buying a good 1911 pistol.

Another for the sig. Some may disagree but IMO the best 1911 value going these days, (excluding the norc deal depending on your personal criteria)
 
+1 for Sig Sauer 1911. Best bang for the buck out of the box IMO. I have a few 1911s including Sig Scorpion, STI Trojan, and Remington R1E... All are great but you get a bit more gun from Sig. All Sigs are stainless frames and slides with Nitron coating. Nitron is a great finish. The Cerakote on the Scorpion is even better. But, go for what your heart wants - all brands you mentioned are great quality but go fondle some before you commit.
 
I just paid for an STI Duty One 4.0 now waiting for the transfer to complete.
I have an STI Ranger II in .40SW that I got on a trade, I love it!
finally taking the plunge into the 45ACP.
