waterfowl laydown blind

hey all, another newb question. trying to do some research to pick a blind for waterfowl hunt. budget is 200 or close to it. tried Northern Flight Mobile 1 blind and it was nicely light to carry, but no space for backpack and my back got cold very fast. looking at Norhtern flight shadow-free Zone camo blind now, that is a bit heavier and roomier. Now I know wholesale is selling at least 2 that look nearly identical to it.
any advice from guys that use similar blind? how is the quality of the mentioned one or any of you have the Big Dog Treestand, Tanglefree or Northern flight blinds? thank you in advance.
 
Whatever type of blind you decided on a good tip to keep warm is to use an old sleeping bag in the blind during those cold days.
 
Bought the Northern Flight Mobile 1 blind, didn't like it for the same reasons. Returned it and bought the Northern Flight Shadow-Free way more room, more comfortable, shell pocket, storage zipper at head/feet and lots of strap for brushing in. The doors open very easy, almost like they are spring loaded from the fabric tension.

Huge when it is folded up but fits in back of the truck, has backpack straps but would want it carry it too far. Used it a few times last season and 1/2 dozen this season, frame connections/hinges are holding up but don't know what they will be like 3 or 4 years from now.

Overall its a good blind and I would buy it again if on sale.
 
Well I can tell you from experience after being in layout blinds from their inception. You will not get away from laying on the cold ground so my advice is get one thats roomy enough to put a heavy sleeping bag in that you can wrap around yourself if need be. Another idea too is use a foam bed roll. Have someone sew a cover on it or buy one already covered like a tent sleeping mat and put it under the blind between the blind and the ground. Every bit helps. The vinyl covered mats from full length lawn recliners work well too. They add a little padding and help cut the cold. Last time I bought a blind I wated until Wholesale put them on 50% off and grabbed a Final Approach Pro Guide XL. Lots of room in that one!! I have room under the seat for camera bag, accessories bag, extra coat, etc. The shell holder pouches on the side accomodate two boxes of ammo in the boxes with room to spare for a water bottle. I also bring along a cheap foam pillow for on the headrest for the colder days. It helps cut wind on the back of the neck.

Is it 'Eliminator Pro-Guide XL Duck Blind' thats selling at $245 at wholesale at the moment?


I'm still deciding between couple, northern flight is one of them, the shadow free version. I will definetly wait for the sale. I think these are going at $219 now.
 
I am very happy with the shadow free blind so far. It's comfortable and the doors open nicely. The only thing I wish is that the gun rest was a little wider.

I'll have to look and see but yes that is the full name of the blind. They do have a good waterfowl gear sale on right now.
