Waterloo IPSC Match

Storm,

this what I hear all the time, this is an excuse for trying to make a comment. Pretty well it means, if you don't help you shouldn't be speaking.

Speak all you want...just don't expect people to listen...

I have yet to read one single solution for improvements...just that you don't think it's good enough...

No match ever failed because of too many volunteers...

Try being part of the solution

Because I know it can never be said often enough, Thank you to all the volunteers who keep these matches going, and the scores processed and posted. If it wasn't for the selfless acts of these folks, we wouldn't have matches to go shoot at.
I'm still a real newb in this sport, but look forward to help put something back into it too.

You be surprised how many share same views.

What kind of solution you need to have results posted in timely manner, is this that much to ask?

A agree here.

Storm,

But there is some truth to that isnt there?

I mean if you are not part of the solution you must be part of the problem and all that.

results are not final yet.......

i think my 750 fps .45's are still on their way down range and that's why the results are not final yet .... :nest: :p:p :D

o.k.. seriously now .... after all this... hasn't the nice fellow who does the results get the wmss thing fixed and post them ? or are they now being witheld to just see how this thread goes....

o.k. o.k. just give me a "D" on that last round... and get them posted.....:D someone has to break the tension here...

how about there be a few more people added to have this program and able to load results...scattered shooters... .. thus they try if possible to be on last squad of matches, so someone is likely to say, i'm not busy tonight or tomorrow, i'll take them this time.....if regular guy can't...
i can be one of these guys if i'm given program and shown how to use it....yes of course i or other may not be able to schedule last squad all the time....but if multiple shooters volunteer to have this program some one, again, if only regular guy not able, some one likely will be able to.
then that person scan and emails them back to club rep. within 48 hours, so club rep. can double check a few scores to keep the guy honest.... ?

Hey Storm... how you been man ?
Craig, how's Ottawa big guy ?

The MD's need to make sure they have someone who can do the scores, if not then reschedual or don't put on the match. Then let the stats guy upload them directly to the website.

Using the palm scoring systems that are out there would speed up the scoring process lighten the load on the match crew.

If we had direct upload it would matter what system was used (winmss, ezwinscore or some custom job) because all we would be doing is up loading a .txt. or .pdf file.

what must attack bud message? direct upload of scores would take work off his hands and get results out to the shooters faster.
example, if the scores are done @ 7pm on Sunday is bud going to be sitting around waiting for them to come in so he can upload them? No, he'll do it on Monday, but if we had direct upload the results would be up minutes after they were completed rather then the next day.
Yes I can read...but you're like a broken record (not the first time you've made that particular post...just the first time in this particular thread)

Too bad...there's was a bit of wisdom in your second last post...but it's gets lost in your standard "must attack Bud" messages...

Boooooring.....try something new for a change.

Why is it then when ever someone does a #### job in this sport and gets called on it the person who was critical gets #### on rather then the one who ####ed up?
If you can't or don't want to do things right then don't bother.

WHAT ?????
have another Steve

Well Mike...I can't draw you a picture on GunNutz...so let's try some simple math...;)

It takes 1 week for the club to get the scores done (for what ever reason...no pointing fingers)

They send the scores into Bud at 10 pm (any nite...it really doesn't matter)

Bud get's them the next morning and puts them up.

The 8 or 10 hours that it takes for them to be manually published on the website is not really the issue is it??

When clubs consistantly get the results done the same nite the match ends...that would be a usefull solution (auto up loading)...untill then...it would have little effect on the current problem.

IIRC Bud reviews each and every competitor to ensure that they are indeed paid up members of IPSC ontario thus insuring the integrity of the system.

That would be lost if there was direct upload.

For the record I do not think Bud has ever taken more than four hours to post any results I have sent them in. Even ones in which I have requested a change hours later do to a keying error on my part.

Does this take place in other Provinces and Regions? I honestly don't know, never shot outside of Ontario.
This could easily be resolved by the Club hosting the event asking to see the competitors current IPSC membership card!
I know this isn't the bigger part of the problem, just a suggestion for the direct upload idea.

I have nothing against Bud, but from what I see on the web site, there is 4 matches since October 3 have no scores posted. Maybe the match organizers delayed the score submission, but from what been said on this thread, the Waterloo scores been posted over a day ago. So, I hope Bud is fine and not got hit by a bus, or something. :D

As for checking if shooters paid, it could be also delegated to the match organizers, say if they can see the current member list, they can easily cross-reference it with the match competitors.

If the scores are not up it's because Bud has not recieved them...

If the MAD sent them...mayve call Bud to see if there was not a email issue?

On the other point...the Match Director is supposed to ensure that all members are current...it just doesn't always happen.

At one point in time non members (BB certified) could shoot Level 1's in Ontraio but that was axed about 4 years ago when we discovered that there were people shooting Level 1's that had not been current in some cases for 10 years.

Sucks as a paid member that you didn't get to shoot a sold out Level 1...only to discover a non member got to shoot...so that rule went the way of the dinasours...

Thats the ####ing problem right there! It should not be accectable for the results to take that long to get reported. The attitude seems to be, we gave you a match shut and be happy, we'll get you the results when we get around to it and you better not question how long it takes.

Why doesn't the board trust our MD's to make sure only members shoot? You trust them to run a safe match and to use certified offcials without any double checking, so why double check the results? a current member list is online for the mds to cross ref, if the shooter is so new they are not on it then there are other ways to verify.

With direct upload theres no #####ing or wondering about why the results are not online, no "We sent them to bud last night its out of our hands". If the results are not there its because the crew who put on the match didn't do them yet. Its not rocket science

No one does any awards or paybacks to class/division winners anymore so all the shooter has to show for his time/money/effort is the results sheet these days. If they can't get that then why bother going to matches.

My suggestion to all the shooters who agree but are not as vocal as I am, just stop going to matches at clubs that don't put any effort into getting results out.

Hmmm, I'm still getting this; Sorry, but Match Results for this match have not yet been submitted.

Please check back again later.

No luck refreshing the page either. Anybody else having this issue?

you might have to refresh the page a few times, it worked for me as the cache server needs a kick from time to time.

Rob, depending on your web browser you need to force refresh the browser cache. In FireFox it is holding Ctrl while clicking on Refresh button or Ctrl + F5 and if I am not mistaken the same should also work in InternetExplorer
