Wax Slugs for Cheap Plinking

My Norinco trench gun shoots 6" left. I decide that the easy way to solve the problem is an adjustable rear sight.

I installed it and fired 3 wax slugs to see how it shoots.

Looks like I have to adjust a bit right and down.

I will fine tune it with real buckshot.

Point is, these cheap slugs are good enough for plinking and shooting practice.

Note how the top slug tumbled and you can see the cylindrical shape of the wad of shot/wax.

A cut shell is a good field expedient when you need a slug and only have birdshot.

I have fired a number of cut shells and find that about 25% of the time I get a standard birdshot pattern. .i.e. the cut did not work.

The wax slug is the original shot, heated and mixed with wax to fill all the voids around the shot. It comes out and flies as a solid cylinder. You can convert 25 cent cheap target loads to good slugs for cheap plinking.
