way to get rid of engravings?

My personal opinion is that in most cases a half assed job (i.e. sanding and cold blue, bondo, spraypaint - whether dura/armacoat or tremclad or not) that is done to "un-bubba" something will more often complete the bubba job that was started in the first place.

Let's see some pics. Just how bad can this engraving be? Did someone EP a picture of an elk that looks like a stick-man wearing a hat on the thing or what?

I dug this thread up to show some progress on my Tactical 1100 build. I'm just waiting for Duracoat and a new bolt assembly to arrive.

I slowly heated the steel and flowed silver solder into the engravings. Then I filed it smooth. The next step is to use Duracoat's Durafill like an autobody glazing putty and fill in the imperfections.

Too bad I am making a tactical rig, because the silver inlay looks nice.

Ok, I dug this one up again to show-off my finished project.

Blasted the receiver, filled the engravings with silver solder, Durafill for the imperfections, sanded with 400 then a few coats of Olive Drab Duracoat. I also Duracoated the scope saddle with Matte Black: same as the trigger group ass'y; EZ loader; S+J single point sling loop; breech block and my custom-built sidesaddle plate. The barrel gets ported after summer holidays.

I'm going to wait for next weekend before I oil and fire it.
I can hardly wait!

Safety Nazis and Law-Geeks note: The magazine extension has a 2-3/4" long aluminum sleeve pressed into it, limiting the capacity of the magazine to 5 rounds but still retaining the CDI/LCF.
