Way too many choices.

So here is the issue, my m14 requires a new scope, the problem i am running in to is which one to buy. All i use the gun for is shooting medium distances, 200 to 300 meters at the longest. do i really need a 50mm objective or will i be fine with a 40mm and should i buy a fixed power or variable power. I dont really want to spend a million dollars but i think 300 bucks should surfice. what do you guys think, help a brother out. btw no NCstar.

vortex crossfire 2 or diamondback, 40mm is fine, 44 would be better IMO.

12x magnification should be enough for shooting coyote size objects and larger at 300 meters, though everyone will have an opinion on that,

Also a redfield or maybe a nikon may be in your price range, check the EE though.
