We need to make up a 'Canadian' rifle

3006 with 22" barrel with open sights, possible front and retract peep like old Brno control round feed with either models having a clip or trap door. Depending on what buyer wanted and a good syn stock weight around 6-7# for gun

This right here. I would be happy with a slightly shorter barrel but this will work. I want the ability to load it with a stripper clip.

Make a gun that is to the 1895 win, what the model 70 is to the model 98 mauser.

20 inch barrel, intermediate cartridge.

.

Uhmm .. a Canadian rifle?

HAS TO BE a second hand Husqvarna .. bought from Tony at TradeEx .. and yes, chambered of course in .366 Wagner :

I like snooping through tradex's inventory on a regular basis ....... and they seem to move a ton of these rifles .... reloading components also seem to sell out rather quickly .

Call it the SDBF .360 Wagner

Swamp Donkey Bang Flopper.

Lever Actuated Bolt with Maple Leaf shaped see through scope mounts.

We HAD one. FN FAL. :p

What? But many other nations used variations of the FAL... UK and Argentina to name two examples. Our C1 were to the FAL what the C7 is to the M16/M4... just a variation, not really Canadian.

That's why I was going with the Canucknikov idea... We need something unique, not a variation on a theme. A new caliber, a new type of action, (left-handed screw action with a crank?), a built-in 5-round magazine that can't be expanded, it has to have a maple wood stock, be painted to look like urban bacon and the idea of the suppressor that makes the gun report sound like "Sorry, Excuse me!" is pure genius. It might be technically too hard to make, though, so perhaps one that just makes the firearm sound like "Eh! Eh! Eh!"?

Oh, and the bullets have to be Nerf-rated. :d

It was a joke man ...

"Rifle of the free world"..... taken away from us ..... no longer a free country ... (that part is no joke)

Didn't see the razz symbol ?

But but but... aren't our communist brothers freed by their class struggle against oppression? That would make the AK the rifle of the free world, no? ;)

Sorry Mada, didn't realize were making a political statement: the "FAL/Free World" linkage was just too obscure and unrelated to the Canadian Rifle OP subject. No worries. :)

Tactical rifles are what they are, but they are pretty worthless in the bush. A 7.62 FAL might be better than the poodle shooters, but it's an unnecessary 5 extra pounds, and prohib to boot. Even if I could, I wouldn't cart one through the bush.

Like it or not, most of Canada is 100% Fudd.

HA..... the former "communists" "freed" by rifles (insert AK or FN) are more free than we are now !! It was a joke that's not a joke.. ya know ? I think they call it irony.

I guess the obscurity comes from reading a bunch of the battle rifle section. Lots of guys are obviously frustrated that we can no longer have the rifle our mil was issued. That's the Cdn tie in.

Judging by a lot of what I see here, the Canadian rifle would be a Savage Axxis .270 dumped in a sub $100 Boyd's stock with a ridiculously large shell holder and the hubble telescope sitting on top in a pair of knock off brand steel rings......

HA..... wayyyyyyy too much truth in that.

Bingo!

Was going to say Ross or Garand. The only two Canadians AFAIK that developed centerfire rifles.
Cooey 71/710 were just Winchester 70's.

Take the Ross Rifle which by my understanding the final version of it had all the bugs worked out of it, start remaking it on modern machines. Modernize it shortening the barrel and using a good sporter stock make it scope mountable and chamber it in the original 280 Ross which was a pretty good cartridge for the day...just the bullet technology back then wasn't up to the speed it generated...and VIOLA a home grown Canadian Original Rifle. By all accounts was fast to cycle and very accurate. Just an idea...flame away...lol.
