We need to support Maxime Bernier

Given that my priority is electing a leader to beat JT & his regressive-leftists, this is the stuff that matters most to me:

http://www.ipsos-na.com/news-polls/pressrelease.aspx?id=7554

"If Kevin O’Leary were the leader of the Conservative Party, the Liberal lead (38%) over the Conservatives (37%) would be just one point among decided voters, while the NDP (17%), Bloc (4%) and other parties (4%) would be well back. Three in ten Canadians either don’t know (23%) or wouldn’t vote/would spoil/not choose any (8%) in such a matchup."

"If Maxime Bernier were the leader of the Conservative Party, the Liberals (42%) would have a fourteen-point lead over the Conservatives (28%) among decided voters, while the NDP (20%) would be a little more competitive. The Bloc (5%) and other parties (6%) would trail. Four in ten Canadians either don’t know (30%) or they wouldn’t vote/would spoil/not choose any (7%)."

AND

"Interestingly, the Conservative Party’s boost in voter support under O’Leary seems to be coming from an unlikely source. Among decided voters, the vast majority tend to say they’d vote for their current choice no matter who’s leading the Conservatives (Tories will vote Tory, Liberals will vote Liberal, and so on). Yet, the survey reveals that many current NDP voters say they’d vote Conservative if O’Leary were leading the CPC.

"In fact, two in ten (22%) current NDP voters appear poised to change their vote to Conservative if O’Leary wins the leadership race. Moreover, the proportion of Canadians who are undecided on their vote choice decreases when O’Leary is the leader (23% don’t know of their vote choice if O’Leary leads the party, 29% if Leitch leads it, and 30% if Bernier leads it), suggesting that the rise in support for the Tories under an O’Leary leadership comes both from undecided and some NDP voters, although this could be temporary given the NDP are also looking for a new leader."

This information is essentially useless. In reality polls are non-sense and I don't understand why people still bother looking at them. The sample size will never match what the populace actually feels. Look at the 2015 election polls and even worse the polls in the US saying Hillary would win. Time after time they are wrong and often paid for by certain people wanting to shift the opinion of voters. Vote for who you care about, not what some poll says.

Exactly vote for who you think will do the best for Canada and don't worry about the polls.

Remember that who ever wins the leadership race will be well known to the public because he/she will have been leader of the opposition for 1 1/2 years or so.

The principled approach. Sure, ok. I can't really fault you for it.
I just don't know that sticking to my principles will assuage my feelings when the Mounties reclassify my SKS as a prohib weapon.

Don't get excited about what the polls say. They are usually wrong.

I can't figure how they have O'Leary so high. Every conservative I talk to who can vote has marked him last.

Bubble Brain Trudeau will defeat himself by next election time. He makes absolutely no sense when he speaks and this is becoming evident with each passing Day.

OTool is my first choice, followed by Blaney and Leitch. That's all I'm marking.
Leitch isn't as stupid as some think. Look at Australia and New Zealand re core values.

Interesting because my recent EDA AGM was well represented by Mr. Singh, Ms. Wong and many more. Diversity was strong, you might say.
I get it that a lot of Ontarians love Kevin O'Leary, he comes off as an obnoxious in your face, fat cat and he is uhm, non-Quebec. Some love him, some love to hate him.
Chretien seemed to do ok with his limited language skills, no?

No chance O'Leary wins. Too many actual conservatives hate him. And since that poll in January that saw him even up with Justin, he has totally embarrassed himself nationally and in the CPC leadership race. He may have signed up 35,000 supporters, but that's nowhere near enough to win a party with about 150-200,000 members. It will be Bernier (risky choice, the wild swing for a home run) or O'Toole (the safe bet).

I wouldn't count Sheer out just yet either.

OTTAWA -- Kevin O'Leary is pulling out of the Conservative leadership race to back rival Maxime Bernier, a source tells CTV News.
Reached by CTV Power Play host Don Martin, O'Leary wouldn't confirm nor deny that he is pulling out. He said the final few weeks of a race are when deals are made.
Bernier is set to hold a press conference about the developments in the leadership race at 4:30 p.m. today.

I have new respect for O'Leary in that he did not let his ego get in the way of reality and supporting a great candidate.

I agree, I am a bit surprised about him endorsing Maxime's somewhat libertarian views almost completely.

If Maxime can rally win a lot of seats in Quebec there is a very good chance JT is history.
We love Max in rural Alberta.

I certainly hope he can.
In any case, now that O'Leary is out of the race, I'm voting for Maxime as leader.
I hope he can deliver those seats in Quebec. I think Westerners will like him too.

I also respect O'Leary for dropping out b/c he says/realizes he can't deliver Quebec.
His support of Maxime will be a HUGE help. He's very social media savvy.
