We need to support Maxime Bernier

O'Leary is nothing but a lame Trump clone....

The last thing we need in this country.

Other than being on TV O'Leary is nothing like Trump.
Judging by some of O'leary's more notable quotes on the issues:
CBC (“a premier news gathering organization”), the military (“there’s nothing proud about being a warrior”), peacekeeping (“I don’t want to bomb or get involved in any campaigns … other than keeping the peace”), ISIS (“the last nationality ISIS wants to put a bullet through is a Canadian”), the Senate (why not sell seats for profit?), legalizing marijuana (“a remarkable opportunity”)
O"Leary is nothing like Trump, quite the opposite.

All that aside, you are correct. He is not the leader that Canada needs.

I donated to the cause. I have two liberal friends who joined simply to vote O'Leary and Kellie Leitch down in the race. I told them to vote for Maxime first then Andrew Scheer.

I find it ironic that my die hard Liberal friends who have never donated to the Librals, have found it in their heart to donate to the Conservative party. Lol!!

Is there a way to donate so that the "gun lobby" (that's us) can show our ability and willingness to financially support a favourable candidate? Can we encourage the firearms community that wants to donate to Mad Max's campaign to make a donation that ends $XX.68? For instance - instead of making a $50 donation, make it a $50.68 donation. It wouldn't hurt for Max to know how much support he gets from firearms owners. It could open some eyes.

If this is already a thing then excuse me - I didn't read all 300 plus posts.

Yes send him an email telling him why.

all the candidates have teams that read every email, and they actually answer most.

trust me they read them, I get responses from justa bout every candidate I write (assuming my email iss resonable(

I don't mind Bernier but I prefer O'Toole. I met him once in Ukraine, had a long conversation with him and he appeared like a solid guy. One important point, he took quick action on some of the issues that were raised.

Spend $15 on a membership. Wait until later to decide who to vote for.

This is not hard, people. There are 300+ posts on whether to support one candidate.

If one in ten CGN members spent $15 on a membership, we would be the biggest group of people who want the same thing: sane firearms laws.

It would be a heck of a phenomenon. I promise you the candidates would wake up and smell the coffee.

I know eh? Why don't people get this? I suppose that it is much easier to sit behind a keyboard and ##### about what the last government didn't give you, like they even knew that you existed...

I grabbed a five year membership myself and have been telling everyone and anyone who'll listen to do the same!

I just purchased a membership for the first time. And i'm donating to Max right now... Just nice to see someone that's actually trying to improve things for law abiding firearms owners in Canada.

Can you imagine what it would be like if criminals weren't the only ones with standard capacity magazines!?! Anyway If he does get elected, then wins the full election, Canada will be one of the best places on earth for gun owners. Pretty close to some states in the US. Only thing left will be concealed carry, non-restricted handguns, sound moderators, and AKs. His other policies look really good too so guns aren't the only reason I donated to him.

my thoughts are that any of the top candidates would be a huge benefit to the country over what is currently calling itself "leadership" This being the case, we need to be very clear in our support of that candidate, so its a strong mandate and a strong unified voice. we, as firearms owners need to unite on this. We can't call each other "fudds" or "tacticool" or anything else. We all need to know that divided we will surely fall, one part at a time.

Now, that said, we need to get behind the candidate that can win a Federal election. We cannot do what the Dems did in the US and discount the "idots" on the other side of the floor or we will have more of the same for another 5 years or more. We MUST find and elect a candidate that can WIN against Trudeau and his like.

I agree that Max is the best in this regard. I personally prefer some of the other candidates for one or two items, but I believe Mr Bernier has the best overall appeal and ability.

That said, I am not sure anything can take down the current regime given the current system and political climate unfortunately. I have hope, as things are occasionally changing, but political correctness easily wins the day in just about anything right now.

This is either the most sarcastic or most naive thing I've seen in years.

Bernier no thanks, but trost is right about privatizing the cbc, have not made my decision but I will have a vote

But again, he isn't the most likely to unseat Justin Trudeau and his regressive-leftist regime so...

If Bernier can beat Justin, or at least give him a run for his money (& put the Libs in a minority position w/ the CPC > Libs + NDP) then I'm on board with Maxime.

Trost doesn't have much chance at winning leadership of CPC or Canada. Much too far to the right socially to ever get mainstream acceptance. He won't ever be given a cabinet post for the same reason.

I haven't joined a political party in years, (I think the last time I did Blenda Stronach was running for the leadership of the party). But just joined and throwing my support behind Max.

I've been supporting Mad Max from the beginning. Joined the party quite a while ago just so I could vote for him, and have donated to his campaign as well. Would definitely like to see him privatize the CBC as well, perhaps that's something he may try to tackle if elected. Would be a hard sell for the brainwashed masses though I think. Especially when the CBC started reporting in it.
