we really need some rifles in 5.45x39

whit all that cheap 545x39 surplus and the popularity of thise round in the us before the ban of coarse why not have some rifles in these caliber maybe some custom made vz58 or ar15 and other rifles im sure thay wood sell like hot cakes buch better then 556/223 anyone looking in to this im sure it wood take the Canadian market by storm
 
Is it just because the price of that ammo is low?
Id rather have more barrel options in 300blk, like acr, xcr, Tavor, i dont need another 22 rifle.
 
way back there was a post on here about someone selling a combo savage package with 223 and 5.45x39 barrels, 300 blk was another option for more money. likely the thread was nuked because of they were looking for business outside of the EE, so somewhere somehow there is some of this ammo in canada

It ain't here man. I wish it was but it isn't. This question was asked of some importers before, Marstar and a few others if memory serves me right. Anyway, the response seemed to be that since there are no rifles chambered and commonly sold in 5.45 in Canada, it wouldn't make sense to bring the cheap surplus in. Kind of a vicious circle. No rifles, therefore no ammo importation. No ammo importation, no one will chamber rifles for it. Sad because the round is cool as ####.
 
Rifles that use 5.45 x39 are mainly evil ak74s which not common outside of former soviet block. Then even some former countries now switching to 5.56 due to Nato alliance. This cartridge was just to follow west in small arms race when us adopted m16. So its nowhere as prolific as 7.62x39 where almost all armies use it and thus have huge surplus of ammo available when no longer need it. 5.45 will be obsolete if Russia adopts new caliber therefore its no point for us to adopt it for sporting use.
Although its good cartridge, unfortunately surplus is not going to be available for long time
