what about a DE forum? or to cast a wider net, call it a "hand cannon" forum! 44mag and up!

We should have a GLOCK forum and a 1911 forum ...

... and a forum for the weekly threads wanting yet another forum.

A forum for internal Polls too.

... and of course a forum for Norincos, three legged dogs and loose women.

All at once? Or is that three different forums? Probably just one eh...

FWIW, I don't like too much micro-compartmentalization. You may miss some interesting threads outside your normal interests.

No need for further separation here. If you want to talk GLOCKs, then go ahead and post your GLOCK thread. There will be plenty of replies. Same goes for any other make of gun.

If you want an in-depth GLOCK specific forum, go to glocktalk.com. For 1911s go to 1911forum.com or m1911.org.

This is getting silly...

Coming up on CGN 6 o'clock news
Greentips will soon introduce a 'new' section for members with less than 100 post... Once their 100 post probation is reached... Members will then be allowed to access the '2nd step' forum, for members with less than a 1,000 post...

Once this milestone is reached, they will be allowed to access 'regular' firearm discussion sections.

;)

I'm with K.O.

Some of us have to go to work for a living, and can't spend four hours each morning checking 20 forums for new posts, when three or four of the forums seem totally redundant.

It is fantastic that we have so much traffic that it seems apparent we need to over-specialize, but, for recent example, I personally wanted to ask a question about a holster for my .22 pistol, for "tactical" range games: Now, do I ask that in the rimfire forum, or handguns, or gear and accessories, or all three?

If I ran the world (which is unlikely to ever happen):

- Military rifles - ALL (poodle shooters, milsurp, red rifles and real battle rifles all fill the same tactical from different periods in history. All are STILL used today. Lump them all together.

- Hunting tools - ALL (rifles, shotguns, archery, trapping, whatever) You are all out there trying to get some food, right?

- Handguns - sporting: all the target disciplines, and gamers of whatever colour "badge". Putting projectiles through inanimate objects to get a score.

- Military small arms TACTICAL APPLICATIONS: those who do, or think they do, have something to contribute about current use of military tactics and tools.

- Handgun TACTICAL APPLICATIONS: again, real users, or informed wanna be types who wish to discuss defensive handgun topics.

- POSER forum: those who have dressed up their $150 used norinco with 400 hours of midnight labour, engraving with a pocket knife and painting with a bottle of nail polish stolen from their little sister, to make it look just like Judge Dredd's pistol from that comic book turned into a movie; Or, alternately: Those with far more money than sense who have added $4500 in bits and pieces to their $3300 Swiss Rifle that they carry on $250 worth of sling and feed out of $750 dollars worth of tac vest and $4000 worth of hard armour, prior to going on a quick excursion in their mercedes sport ute down the gravel road to leer at the waitresses at Cactus Club.... Ah, you know what I mean... Whatever: It IS a free country, have fun and be safe.

- Shotguns - ALL. Anyone who actually USES a shotgun. Those who just have the shotgun to hug it, and pet it, and call it George may go in the above forum.

- Photo / video forum.

- Legal stuff in the news

- Public opinion polls

- Licensing / learning / registration / policy... REAL information in a library format for new shooters.

- Sales / exchange forums

- Meet and greet forum for those wishing to actually, really, MEET each other somewhere sometime.

- One OTHER forum for everything else...

What was the quote: "Specialization is for insects..."

Just my opinion... Quit making a forum for each individual who thinks that their firearms' interest is any more special than what mine is, and who needs a "1969-1973 left handed Remington bolt action in short action calibers ONLY" forum.

The more divided we get, the harder it is to share information. This here interwebz doodad has been an amazing boon in helping organize firearms folk as one strong community... Why break it up?

Just my thoughts, but I am (relatively) old.

Glocktalk, the reason why people come to other forums. To be fair Glocktalk helps smaller forums like Loadmastervideo.

Of course you could have a forum dedicated to Glock 17's and 1911 in .45acp, what could possibly go wrong....

I voted "generally Glocks are less finicky"..... :p
