Weak-Hand Shooting

I find this works well to counter-balance the tendency of the gun to torque in the direction of reduced support (i.e. your unsupported palm).

Good point. I had not thought of that. Mostly it just felt more natural a way to hold for my wrist and forearm.

Re: gun angle

Three people whose opinions I respect each have a different view. Cant in, cant out(!), and vertical. I'm slowly moving to vertical now, with a minor cant in. Whatever works. :)

One of the main reasons why I still have a 22lr semi HG is to practice shooting with the weak(left in my case) hand. What I struggle with is right eye dominance.

As jimbo said try cant.

Without thinking about it point at something with you index finger. Notice how your hand naturally cants 45 degrees towards the center of your body. You are trying to fight that, don't fight it go with it.

Cant in is the way I always shoot support side. Less torque on your forearm. Then I took a class with Slavex. He wanted me to try vertical as he feels recoil management and follow up shots are faster if you hold the gun straight up. My instinct is to still cant it in but I do try it both ways. Cant out feels too weird and uncomfortable.

It may be that you have a dominant eye that you're fighting. Look up and try some testing to check for eye dominance.

This was my case, I used to just aim left like some had mentioned already. Then I tried switching to my left eye when shooting weak hand only and while if felt very weird at first it fixed the issue 100%. Now I do a few reps of strong hand only and weak hand only with my regular dry fire and switching eyes becomes very natural with time invested.

Might be worth giving it a honest try.

I can't try it when wearing my shooting glasses because only the right lens is set to focus on the front sight. But I can try it with my computer glasses. Both sides focus close.

I have accidently tried shooting weak side, weak eye, and it felt more natural. Worth trying, but I doubt it is/was the source of the problem. In my case the huge shift to the right was due to trigger snatching.
