Weapon hunter tv

I saw one episode thus far and it was fantastic. Nice to see the Canadian content and let our southern brothers know they don't have anywhere near a lock on antique militaria restoration.
 
Well I just watched the "WW2 sniper" episode, looks geared for junior high students, just like the Canadian pickers and the various storage locker shows.

They could have built a meaningful episode around the half track collectors collection....or the BC shooter...

I've watched both episode and enjoyed them to a point. I agree with Lee Enfield on the comparison to other shows, somewhat reminds me of the British battlefield relic show, good possibilities but narrated by a dweeb.
 
I love the show. I think it's very well done. I just hope it get picked up by history or something . It has so much canadian content.
 
I watched the Sniper episode on PVR. Since most people know nothing about guns, let alone WWII sniper rifles, they did a good job of supplying info along with the entertainment aspects. I find the competition aspect kind of ridiculous, since soldiers use what they have and make the best of it, but it's probably become a cliche in these kind of shows.

Now, how do I get Lever to let me wander around their warehouse?
 
Oh the hunt for the elusive SVT 40 scope and mount. Call Corwin, idiots. This guy ever hear of CGN's and the great amount of info and firearms available. Nope, had to turn it into to a big mystery and tour collectors in the states. Also a few shots from a vintage sniper rifle and he's an expert? Wow. I think the best way for me next time is leave it on mute. Ya I'll watch it again. Stupid me. ;) (Posted by a jaded old guy) On second thought maybe I should just keep my big mouth shut. At least its showing firearms on TV and we know the viewers/sponsors are in the states. Millwright, out.

I got a kick out of the host shooting at the steel target with the sniper rifles on the hillside in BC....Said distance was 100 meters...Guy was missing the target by 5 feet or more to the left and 3 feet low in front...but hey it was his favorite rifle he was using so I guess it didn't matter.....Geeesssh.

The Lee-Enfield definitely got the short end ignore stick. He only shot it when he was at his worst. And what can a non-sniper tell from 3 or 4 shots on each rifle? It shows the inherent silliness of a competition like that. But "reality" shows are popular with networks because they're cheap.
 
i was talking about the SVT the whole show. i am so glad it messed up. thats how you know the show is real. same gos for the guys who are ripping on the host for missing shots at 100 yards. these are the same guys who think Chumlee can hit a target dead center at 300 yards with a home made desk cannon that is loaded with some black powder and tinfoil. lets face it US based shows are all fake!
the show is just realistic if you ask me. my SVT 40 was a pig it used to stove pipe every single round. and if you don't sight in your scope you never know were its going to hit. i mean like how many guys here can say they ever actually shot and M1 garand sniper? i have no idea how it performs.
 
Far from the worst television I've ever sat through, but…

Made-up treasure hunt for the rare and elusive SVT scope and mount, goes to California, ‘world's top expert’ sends him to Georgia, and ends up with a reproduction he could have bought on-line right at home. After all that he should have come up with the real thing. And the scope the guy ‘lends’ him is a PU on a *Mosin* mount (magically correct when he returns to BC).

Then the rifle jams on the first shot and he takes it out of the running. But in montages throughout the episode you can see the SVT firing and ejecting fine. (Hit dead centre on the target with that one shot, too!)

The hallmark of reality television is concocted drama and mis-leading editing, so it's not surprising to see it used here. Just wish they saw it as documentary rather than reality.

His misses at 100m were so wide; no excuse unless the scopes weren't zeroed.

Guy doesn't know how to run a bolt action rifle, and he's fit to judge the No.4 and Springfield inferior?
 
Seems hyped up on energy drinks, like too many kids these days.
Thank god I PVR-ed the show, so I can FFW.
