[Weapon ID]Chinese Fishermen's Catches of the Day

Or due to the guns value, or the value of what ever product was involved, maybe a transaction at sea went bad and these are the guns of guys that fell overboard in a firefight.

time magazine: " Taiwan has some of the toughest gun-control laws in the world. Private ownership of firearms is largely outlawed; people convicted of illegally making, transporting or selling guns can face the death penalty. "

so you can imagine what a illegal firearm would sell for over there.

if over two weeks , 4 separate fishermen netted 4 firearms, my guess is that there is far more firearms down there, so yes, this was a gun smuggling operation, going to taiwan in a fishing boat in a busy fishing area. unfortunately for the smugglers/fishermen came upon a patrol boat and the cargo went over board.

weapon of choice by taiwanese criminals

time: "When police in southern Taiwan closed in on fugitive Chang Hsi-ming and three members of his kidnapping ring last week, they were attacked with assault rifles; the criminals held off as many as 1,000 officers for five hours. Four cops were wounded. Chang, who ultimately escaped, was last seen forcing a hostage into a getaway car, toting an M-16 and wearing a bulletproof vest."

my guess ar/m16 are weapon of choice cos the ammo are more readily avail, the military uses them.

We should tell them, as a Western tradition, if you happen to find guns floating in the water, in return of good luck you're suppose to drop some Norinko AK47s back in the water to make the God of the Sea happy.
