Hello fellow nutters,

What weapon lights are folks using on their PCCs? I am in the market for a white light with a low profile mlok attachment system. The cheapo Feyachi lights on Amazon such as the FL14 are about $50 including a mount and pressure switch:

But then the next upgrade option is $200 from a reputable manufacturer, such as the Odin Mini:

I'm wondering if I can get away with the cheapo Chinese light, given the relatively low recoil of a 9mm carbine. I'm not going to war with this thing, it's just for horsing around at the range and potentially varmint control at the cottage. Is this a buy-nice-or-buy-twice situation?

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and recommendations.

Thanks all for the comments. I couldn't justify Surefire money and I had a look at the Klarus options but ended up buying the Odin Mini.

I'll try to remember to report back here with a review once I get it all set up and have a chance to try it out.

If you need a light for a serious reason it's surefire/modlite/arisaka/streamlight/blazer/malkoff/cloud.

If you're just dicking around any China junk is fine.

I thought most people use these lights for clearing their basements for zombies.
In which case, the cheap Chinese lights are fine.

I can't think of another reason for mounting a light on a "weapon" since most of us aren't allowed to use them as "weapons".

Can’t flex on the gram with off brand crap.

Better to have it an not need it. You kinda sound like the people that think no one needs an AR.

I have used three Streamlight Protac Rail HL-Xes on three of my rifles. 1000 lumens so really bright, but it's pretty much what I am looking for. Separate pressure pad/tape switch with two ends that fit onto a standard picatinny (9 or 11 rails). Easy to install. Think they were a little over $200 each.

I have an Odin-mini on my Ruger PCC, it works just fine for my purposes which is primarily to have a light on my gun in the event that my dog gets in to it with a wild animal of some sort in the middle of the night when I'm out backpack camping with him. It's going over to my RDB-S as soon as I get the Lucky Irishman fore end with the MLOK slots to mount it to, the factory plastic furniture doesn't allow for it unfortunately.

Odin Mini arrived today.

Packaging was quite nice, finish and tooling looks great, magnetic charger is very slick. Took about 90 minutes to charge out of the box. Beam is tight and bright, fittings are snug with good tolerances. Mounting system is cleverly designed and low profile. Steel end cap button has good tactile response and remote switch interface is intuitive (hold for momentary on, press and release for on/off).

So far, so good. Looking forward to trying it out at the cottage in a few weeks.

racoon hunting...we used to hold a flashlight with one hand and a 22 with the other...in the middle of the night...yes you could tape a light to the gun...but then you'd be pointing your rifle all around..in the air, looking for the coon , that's up a tree..
