wearing blaze vest only Saskatchewan deer hunt

I personally cannot see why anyone would wear white when hunting Whitetails. Sounds like a good way to get shot by some over exuberant hunter who takes you for a tail. In the bush orange is very visable so I personally would wear nothing else.

That would probably be because you have never hunted in Southern Saskatchewan. Especially not during the rifle season, usually the beginnings of November, onwards to mid to late December.

Once the snow is on the ground, white is a great camo color, and the deer are all dark, against a lighter background.

It's not a "flash of white through the trees, being shot at by an idiot" kind of thing.

There is not a huge amount of bush. And a flash of white, against a snow background, does not show up so well.

:D

Nothing wrong with hunting in white. Here in SK there's enough deer and enough land that there's no reason for two groups to have to be within 5 miles of one another. Also there is a lot of open prairie, so getting shot by someone means he's a particularly inept hunter. I hunt in the bush on public land (the West block of the Cypress Hills) and the only time you seek other hunters out there is elk season. That said I wear blaze orange, as it's likely less visible to a deer in the brush than just white, unlike the open fields.

I asked Sask.Environment for you. It appears that you have to have sleeves of approved colour.

Is it ok to wear an approved colour vest and hat, or do the sleeves have
to be approved colour too?

A vest isn't good enough.

Interesting, three of us got checked for licenses etc. this past saturday.
My two friends had coveralls from years past, and I just had a vest . No problems of any kind or questions.

Hmm makes you think.
