wearing white

If you are walking around in the thick bush, a person will likely still hear you long before he sees you, even if you are wearing orange.

You think about it, if big game doesn't come in camo, what excuse could a person have for shooting at something camo in color?

and how many times when in stand have you gone on high alert because you heard a parttridge or squirrel and thought it may be a deer?... couple that with some guy walking around wearing white or beige or whatever.....

Is it OK to shoot him?... no... "know your target and beyond"... should he have been smarter?... no doubt... common sense is like a saloon gate.... it swings both ways...

And how would you sneak up on a poacher wearing that?... exactly the point here....

And the answer is:

I doubt that anyone in the history of Saskatchewan has ever seen a warden walk farther than he needed to to take a piss without spraying the truck, or try to sneak up on anyone on foot.

Being born in Saskatchewan and having hunted there for 30 years, I can attest to that.

I don't swing my gun toward every noise that I hear, and I certainly don't shoot at noise.

Unless there is a dress code that he is violating, he is doing nothing wrong. Any moron that points his gun at noises, let alone fires it, shouldn't be allowed to handle a firearm.

LOL... I am not questioning you... or your safety abilities or ability to handle a firearm...

You make good arguments but they are based on the assumption that everyone out there will follow the rules and have a brain in their head....

When you approach a 4 way intersection in your car do you barrel through it if it turns green while you are driving up to it assuming nobody will run the yellow as it turns red or do you slow up a bit and take a glance both ways?..... I mean. like hunters, they are all licensed so what can go wrong?

As for me, I would rather be cautious because I know not everyone is smart enough to do the right thing...

As I posted earlier, people wearing orange do get shot, you can't protect yourselves against the true morons that are out there, but I won't live in fear all of my life because of it.

I also don't install roll cages and four point harnesses in my vehicles, or wear a helmet and firesuit in my vehicles, even though it would obviously make it much safer for me to drive our highways.

Is your car blaze orange?

Look dude.... you do what you wanna do... run around the woods in a beige carharrt with a couple of shed antlers taped to your forehead... you are right... it still wouldn't be your fault if you get shot... but you sure didn't do much to help your odds....

and to other dude... no... my car is not blaze orange... although that would be cool.... .... dumbass argument....

Hey... lets all go to work without steel toes and safety glasses while we are at it!.... awesome idea!.... duhhh....

I love these threads.

Out of all the inane and absurd thread toipics that continually pop up. I just love how people get so bent out of shape about orange.

This thread is great!

I wish I had a pic to post of myself hunting moose this past weekend in beige Carharts!!!

Why is having your car easier for other drivers to see a dumbass argument? Someone might notice a blaze orange car, where they might not see a duller colored car, and it could keep them from doing something stupid and running into you.

Right out of the regs.
It is a violation to:
hunt big game with a rifle, hunt in
a designated rifle-only season or
accompany a rifle hunter without
wearing an outer suit from the
waist up of scarlet, bright yellow,
blaze orange or white or any
combination of these colours.
Headwear must be any one of
these colours except white.
Coloured vests are not
considered a complete outer
suit from the waist up, and
therefore are not acceptable.

I forgot about the combination part. It use to be solid colors only. To each there own, if you guys want to wear glow in the dark orange have at it. Whatever makes you "feel safe" . 30 years of hunting while wearing white once the snow is on the ground and haven't been shot yet! I did get shot at while wearing red in elk season once, but that is another story for another time.

...Alberta used to have a hunter orange requirement, but they did away with it years ago. The result of the regulation being done away with, is that the number of accidental shootings has not changed, so obviously, hunter orange doesn't seem to make any difference in Alberta.

...Somewhere along the line the SERM noticed that identifying hunters in vehicles was easier when a coloured suit was visible and they aren't in any hurry to change that. If they believed that red, yellow, orange or white was going to make someone safer, wouldn't they be clammering to wear the magical colours themselves?

...In some cases, I actually prefer that other people don't know that I am there, as it greatly reduces the odds of some retard scoping me...

Pretty much sums it up for me.

So basically you are by this statement saying it would make sence to wear blaze orange because you would be better seen than in a duller color ?

While somewhat entertaining this could be the stupidest argument I've ever seen on CGN

Saskatchewan isn't in your "parts" Why is it that the people that are so concerned about being shot if they aren't wearing orange, are located from Ontario East?
If you read very, very carefully, you'll note that I wrote about the risk of wearing white, and said nothing about blaze orange.

I know that plenty of people have been ventilated while wearing blaze orange - I remember a few years ago some fellow was sitting on a boulder, in blaze, and still got shot.

In areas like South-Central Ontario, there are a lot of hunters who only get out once a year, and can be very trigger happy.

I personally will do whatever I can to reduce the chance of being shot - and not wearing wearing white is an excellent start.

If you are hunting some open land with few if any other hunters about - that may be different. If you are hunting brush and don't know who else is hunting there ......

I will be hunting Saskatchewan again this year for deer as was wondering what are the regulations for your choices on outerwear colors. I have always worn a full blaze orange parka but I want to wear white this year. My question is, does the fabric have to be entirely white or can it have black camo patterns, white being the dominant color? I have checked the hunters and trappers guide but found no answer. I could use your help on this matter
Cheers
Danny

You know what the funniest part is?.... deer or colourblind....

The point being , that if wearing blaze orange supposedly makes you safer while hunting because it makes you more visible, why wouldn't you also make your car as visible as possible to make it safer for you as you drive.

I myself don't wear blaze orange, and I don't drive a blaze orange vehicle, because I don't believe that either one is worthwhile.

Even though they don't see colors as we do, they do see contrast, and blaze orange does contrast against most natural colors. Just compare some black and white pictures to see this for yourself.

So are some people

A perfect solution for the paranoid people. Even a colorblind person should see this.
