Weatherby’s Red-headed stepchild?

Thats a nice rifle and the Weatherby cartridges are are pretty cool, I wouldn't mind one in a small bore, one day.

The 7mm Wby is not a 2.85" class case like the 7mm STW. It's closer to the 7mm RM in power (2.5" vs. 2.55" case length, all .375 H&H based.)

Pretty reasonable cartridge, not overly overbore. Expensive brass, but if it turns your crank it's a fine choice.

An you could have said "THE REAL KING" based......Just saying........d:h:

I considered a 7mmwby almost 30 years ago, but I ended up going with the 7mmstw instead. The 7mm bore size is one of the few that weatherby doesn't produce leading edge ballistics.

I love Weatherby rifles, however, I've never been a fan of any of the Weatherby cartridges, but they have been growning on me slightly. One day I will own both a 240 Weatherby and a 6.5-300 Weatherby, dont know but those two really stand out for me.

A few years back I purchased a Weatherby Mark V chambered in the 224 Wby. Mag. I purchased it for my son, who hasn't taken one shot out of it. A beautiful rifle that has a 26" heavy sporter barrel and great wood.

I have a mark v in 7mm wby that I have hunted with. Nice caliber but bass is expensive and my longest shot ever was 200 yards, now I’m just a 30-06 guy.

The difference in terminal performance on game between a 7 mag and a 30-06 inside of 300 yards is mostly in the shooters mind!

Too true, I've never seen a deer take a fatal hit and run off into the woods screaming "YOU SHOT ME WITH 30-06, IT TAKES 7MM MAGGGGNUMMM TO KILL ME". Make a good shot with a decent bullet and a lot of stuff will be just as dead. There will also be arguements on both side of the coin, but go with what you believe in and don't look back.
