I am thinking about purchasing a Weatherby Mark V Deluxe but thought that before I spend so much on a rifle I should get some user reviews.

I own several Weatherby rifles in Vanguard Deluxe, Vanguard S2 and I am impressed with the quality and accuracy of all these rifles. So impressed I thinking of stepping up to a Mark V Deluxe (USA).

Can anyone help with their user review. Are they accurate like the Vanguard S2's? Any issues to be aware of?

The Mark V is the most overpriced rifle that I have ever owned. My Vanguards were more accurate for less than half the price.Have you ever wondered why the Vanguard has a better accuracy guarantee than the Mark V?

I have owned a weatherby mark v ultralight weight in 7mm WM quite awile ago I found it very comfortable (stock design) I wasn't able to get the best accuracy out of it it was very picky of the ammo and the ammo is expensive even the brass for a weatherby is pricey and even at that I was only able to get 1.5" groups which is not all that bad for hunting. But for the price I would look elsewhere have a look at a nosler rifle or a sako they come with an accuracy guarantee

I've owned 10 or so MK V's and the same in vanguards and as beautiful and expensive as the Mk V's are your better off with a vanguard their more accurate and if you scratch it your not too pissed off! Just my 2 cents

I've got 3 Mark Vs and 7 vanguards. Both are solid forged (or extrudeditdepends who you ask) designs with an absence of manufacturing short cuts like multi piece bolts and separate recoil lugs. The vanguard is lighter, smoother, and has a better extractor. The bolt can be field stripped and reassembled faster than you can say "field strip". Whoever came up with the mark Vs bolt disassembly method should be kicked in the nuts until he's dead. The vanguard has a two lug 90 degree bolt, the mark V a interrupted thread 9 lug 60ish lift. The trigger on both are good designs, but the older vanguards need a trigger job to begin to get their potential. The S2s have a better trigger if you like 2 stages. I've got mixed feeling there, they didn't need a new trigger, just a few minutes to finish building the original. The bottom metal, trigger pull on the old ones, and safety switch on the vanguards are fairly cheesy.

Stocks are all over the place, and comparable between the deluxes in both lines. You'll get the stock you pay for. Metal finish is comparable mirror polish on the deluxes on both.
The mark Vs have available 26 inch barrels , the vanguards only 24.

In my experience the vanguards will out shoot the mark Vs. Weatherby must think so too, since they have a 1" accuracy warranty across the board.

The mark Vs safety locks the striker. That's a big deal to some people, myself included.

Wbys are a little pricey and some don't like them. Vanguards are a good rifle for the money. I have several of both. One of them is a stainless synthetic MK V in 340 Wby. This rifle is my go to rifle for big game. It will group 3 shots into an inch @ 200yds. I have hunted in all kinds of crappy weather and this rifle has never changed its point of impact. This will be one of the last rifles I would ever part with.

:agree:This answers it nicely.^^

Have had 2 ultralights and a accumark all shot great, and I liked the rifles very much, especially the ultralights. That said, I hear nothing but excellent reviews for the vanguard. I think both are fine choices, it all depends on your budget, and desires.

I have a sporter mk 5 the wood is real nice, nicely made and finished, the way its made i dont think its overpriced i think its a bargain.
