I was planning on buying a CZ 453 varmint 22 in the next week, after alot of research and shooting other CZ 22, i was confident this was the gun for me. Then my boss showed me his weatherby mark xxii .22 made by anschutz, took a couple shots out of it and absolutely fell in love. But now im torn between the CZ and the Weatherby, i know there is quite a price difference, about a $400 price difference. any suggestions on what to go for and what you prefer.

I would get the CZ because I really don't like the looks of the Weatherby stocks.

Another option you may want to consider is the Anschuetz 1416. It's basically the same thing as a Weatherby Mark XXII, but with a straight-combed stock.

Either rifle will serve you well. The Anschuetz/Weatherby will probably have better fit and finish and a better trigger out of the box.

The weatherby is a nice gun but you may be afraid to use it because you might scratch it

I have CZ"s in various cal. They all are tackdrivers with the correct ammo. Dollar for dollar they are the best new gun value. Your paying more $ for a prettier weatherby and the name.

Really you are comparing a Anschutz to a CZ as that who's action and barrel are in the Weatherby . I love the high gloss look of the Weatherby stock and if I was in the mood to spend upwards of 1000.00 on a rimfire, I'd buy the Weatherby. There are some after market triggers accessories you can get for the CZ triggers to make them a very light pull and many of my CZ's have them. FS

Minor heads-up on Anschutz ...

I have two Anschutz sporters with the 64 action. Accurate, great triggers, but the simple act of a nice reliable ejection of the spent shell can be ... problematic. It's a chronic problem, as you'll learn if you do a search on the very deep Anschutz forum on The Other Website.

CZ 453 - its better than >90% of us. It already has a fully adj. set trigger. Difference in money allows for better ammo which will likely make more of a difference than CZ v. Annie. Or the $400 is 1/2 of a CZ527 for .223.

1911a1 buy a CZ or BRNO #1,#2or #5 if U can find 1,When a company outsources a firearm U will allways pay more, but if you want a weatherby find one of the old markxx11 semiautos made in italy they are worth the money. If U want a weatherby bolt made by anchutes why not locate an old CIL model 180 or 190(made by anchutes) and spend 1/10th of the price of a new wetherby, its not worth the money.Dale in T-Bay
