Threat Response

12ga, 3” Pump, 19” barrel, Synthetic stocks

Anyone know how Weatherby are for quality lately. I found a good price on one and it looks like a nice tactical shotgun. Thoughts?

I have one. It is the older style with a rail on the pump which I sometimes put a pistol light on. The gun is super light, smaller people can choke up on the large pump handle and point it easily. It has useful ghost ring sights right out of the box with an orange fibre type front sight. My front sight wiggles but I don't think it's going to fall off. If you aren't careful inserting rounds into the tube you can get a double feed. The rubber on the pistol grip seems to move around easily, particularily if you hold the gun one handed or otherwise torque it. It seems more ammo sensitive than my other shotguns and needs a solid racking of the pump to feed. Cheap plastic snap caps won't come out of the tube but metal hulled live shells will. The snap cap thing is weird, I have no idea if that's a reflection of quality or what but it's not a big deal as real rounds work fine. Parts are hard to find: no stocks, side saddles, or foreends are avalible and barrels have to be custom fitted. I believe it will take Benelli or Beretta chokes or something like that. It has a perforated tactical style choke from the factory.

Bottom line for me is it isn't the nicest shotgun I own but being super light it's great to carry and used properly it is quite reliable. My biggest complaint is the rubber on the pistol grip moving around. It just seems cheap, Benellis do not do this! Some came out with "skull camo" furniture if your into that. I wish mine had it.

Here is a picture. I took the red dot off but it cowitnessed pretty well with the ghost ring sights.

I got to shoot the semi version of the above posted and i love it! If i had the cash id by eigther pump or semi

I would like to try the semi. I have an SA-08, the non-tactical version, I use for ducks and clays and I love it. Super reliable, I have thousands of rounds through it and only two or three failures to eject.
