I am looking at getting myself a sporting shotgun and I find the Weatherby PA-08 Upland model to be damnnnn pretty...in both price and looks. Pirce is under $500. The gun comes with either a 26" or 28" barrel and I want to go with the 28". It has the standard features of a a 3" chamber and comes with a IC, M, F choke tubes. Is there a way to get a cylinder choke tube for this guns...as I can shoot rifled slugs best out of a cylinder bore and I do not believe you can get a rifled barrel for this gun.

Anyone have any first hand exp. with this shotgun?

I've been researching them as well -- couldn't find any negative reviews except for some nimrods that have no experience with them but have a hate on for Turkish guns. Weatherby has always given me excellent service -- have a friend that had their older Italian made made semi which had a cycling issue -- 5 years old and they fixed it no question -- only had to pay shipping one way and turn around time was good. I think they are a great entry level semi.

Well as for people hating on Turkish guns...I have a Hatsan Escort thats seen about 2000 rounds of birdshot, well over 500 rounds of buck and around 800 slugs int he past 10 or so months. ZERO issues. It's be dropped many times, dropped in the snow, hardly cleaned, covered in mud that got into all the interals and it still was chugging alone.
 
i have one in 26inch. i only have about 150 shots down the barrel so its still pretty new, but so far its a great gun for the price (i got mine for $419+tax). it cycles very nicely, and the fit and finish are as good as it looks in the pics. the ONLY issue ive had with mine so far is that the front bead fell off after only an outing to the range and 2 days of duck hunting. not a huge deal by any means, but a note none-the-less.
taking it apart to clean is also a breeze. i would recommend it...

Isn't Weatherby an American company? As far as I know some of their shotguns are made in Japan actually.

And the Chevy G6 is is made in Australia .
Weatherby tenders out firearms manufacturing to their specifications .
The Mk V is still made in the USA and Japan also assembles firearms for Weatherby as well.
Either you like them or you dont.
Just my .02 comments this fine Wednesday morning.

Yep, Weatherby O/U's are made by Stefano Faisti -- was SKB for many years. They tried a side by side from Zabala (Spain) that didn't work out before the Fausti deal. At any rate they have good service.
 
Friend of mine just bought one new. I have tried it on two occassions it is the roughest shotgun I have ever used it will jamb if you do not cycle very slowly as well as it is quite rough and cheap feeling. It has about 1000 rounds through it and it has not got any better. The wood and blueing look nice but for the price I would step it up a little and get a BPS.
 
I bought one in 20ga for my GF about a month ago, I`ve only shot a round of clays with it, but I`m very impressed. Mine has the 28" barrel and balances and swings very nice and is fairly light . I belive the gas system is a copy of a beretta 303, someone told me that benelli owns the factory in Turkey and the quality control is top notch, I can`t say that forshure tho.

I thought that the PA-08 was a pump?
