Hey guys. I'd like to share my experience with my wonderful Weatherby SA-08 12 gauge. I bought it very lightly used last year and it's been nothing short of reliable, fun, durable and outperforming my mates guns since I got it.

Does anyone love theirs as much as I love mine? I think it's the best possible value in an auto shotgun.

I have two Deluxe, 12 & 20. Love them, nice looking, fit me good, low recoil. Had two synthetic, sold them when Wholesale had the wood stocked on at a good sale price. The two were $1200 tax in. Same day, Cabela's were $850 each, no such thing as price matching.

I'm going to have to shoulder one of these to check out fit.
Looking for my first shotgun and there are a world of options I keep circling back to the SA-08 because of decent reviews like these and the pricepoint.

They're one of the best autoloaders made today. Light weight, simple, soft shooting and the gas system actually does cycle everything. Because instead of trying to be clever they just come with two gas pistons, light and heavy.

I've been looking hard at their 28 gauge. Touch to find any 28 gauge available at the store but cabelas seems to have a good supply. Anyone have experience with the 28?

Bought a synthetic one in 20 gauge a couple weeks ago, showed up a couple days ago. Fit and finish is nice, balance is beautiful, and for me, it points better than any other shotgun I've tried. Haven't managed to put any lead through it yet, but I'm going to try to get out tomorrow to at least check for function. My take is that yes, it is a value priced, no frills shotgun, but Weatherby hasn't exactly made it a habit to put their name on crap...

I have the wood stocked version in a 20 gauge. Bought it used but pretty much new a few years ago.
Nicely made and well balanced. We shot clays with it and my BIL's Win SuperX-3 20G. The Wby is lighter, swings way better and has a much better trigger.

I had one. It felt great, pointed great, everything about it was good. Except the gas valve system. Where I go hunt it's not uncommon for ducks and pheasant in the same walk. Having to choose what I'm going for by picking what valve I had installed kind of sucked.

I'm not taking anything away from the SA-08, it just didn't work for what I wanted. I picked up a Remington V3 and I am really happy with it too. And not having to change parts on the fly is relly nice.

Corwin arms is selling the asena zr7 which is supposed to be a copy of the sa08. For 300 it will be interesting to see just how close they are

I believe the recoil system is different. My asena has the spring under the forearm, and its in the stock for the sa08 isn't it?

Otherwise they are very similar. In fact the importer (corwin) tells you to download the Weatherby user manual if you want one for the asena, they are that similar.

My asena also has only one piston that'll cycle anything from target loads to 3" steel and slugs. It's a light gun, i won't be shooting slugs from it on a regular basis, but it's a delight to shoot anything else.
