Keep in mind that Weatherby has a dismal track record of retaining any given shotgun in their product line for more than a few years, despite having some really good stuff! Parts and service could be an issue here. That said, Beretta is not known for good customer/after market service either. I own 2 Beretta's and am dreading the day that I need one serviced, hence owning 2.

Other than the continuity of production the reports seem favorable on them. The SA-08 is essentially an old Beretta design that is reliable in its simplicity; no elaborate valve systems to maintain.

I would get one but have an issue with Weatherby discontinuing their shotgun lines after a few years. If you haven't gathered, Weatherby contracts out their shotgun lines and that in itself implies a termination date of contract,

I did send several emails to Weatherby about this and essentially got a rather non-committal answer that really didn't address my question about how long the SA-08 would continue to be available. I speculate telling that would give away corporate plans to the competition.

To my way of thinking this reluctance to answer a direct question tells me that the SA-08 is doomed to see an end date of production.

If after market service is important stick with the known players who have a proven track record.

Last bit of advice is to look at Shotgunworld.com. As the name says they are shotguns, shotguns and more shotguns.
