Weatherby - Sako - Kimber - Custom?

For a factory rifle,I would choose the Sako.I have owned two Mark Vs,and was very disappointed in them,so they wouldn't even be an option. My personal choice would be to have Corlane build me a rifle.

I just built a custom .257 weatherby on a M700 action with a Gaillard barrel, Mcmillan Edge stock and had the action trued for about $2000.00 including buying the action, that gun shoots consistantly under .5'' with 110gr accubonds and 115gr partitions. I love this cal. for deer size game.

now that's the way to go to get what you want.....sounds like a nice one....how heavy is it?...what scope and mounts did you use?..how long is your barrel and what velocities are you getting?

after carrying my Rem 700 Ti in 7-08 for the last three days I know I want a similar rifle in a larger cartridge. I NEED a 7-1/2# max 338-06.....it'll probably start with a stainless 700 action and an Edge stock...

I was just checking out the Montana Rifleman website... they list barreled actions for $1000-1200 range. That leaves room for a nice stock and glass...

Blue or stainless, long or short, magnum or regular, lots of chamberings available, right or left handed.

Interesting...

Weatherby freebore is a non-issue. I have owned a .300 and .340. Both shot under 1" groups with no modifications. Never needed to seat bullets out, and loaded them to standard OAL.

Of the factory choices there, Sako would be my pick, only because I have no experience with the Kimbers.
Customs for me start with either Browning or Ruger single shot actions and a letter to Paul Reibin of Rangesports Unlimited on what I want as far as the finished rifle goes.
Using a different builder for the next one however, only becuase he has a good line of half octagon/half round barrels!:D

How about a sauer 202 or an entry level blaser. They aren't everyones cup of tee and are pushing your budget for their lowest priced models but the build quality is awsome and have many options, especially for the blaser.
