I have been looking at autoloaders (camo) for waterfowling around the $1000 mark. I have shoulder a few (Franchi L-12, Stoeger 2000, Browning Gold Remington 11-87 and the one that I like which seems to fit best is the Weatherby SAS. It is a gas operated auto.

Has anyone pulled a trigger on this one?

What is the +/- of gas vs spring ie inertia auto's
Your comments are appreciated.

I will post this in the hunting forum as well.

Sas

Guy at my Trap/skeet club has one (Weatherby) - it had an ejection issue with 1200 psi loads. Sent it back to the depot to have the gas ports opened up - functions wuthout a hickup. You might want to look at the Fabarm -- I think it's the best gun for the $ I have ever come across - the gas system is simple, the recoil is low, their patented tribore barrel is published to hit 52% harder downrange than the competition. I love my Camo version ( put 1500 rounds at the club wuthout ckleaning, as a test without 1 problem) and and will buy a wood stocked one as soon as I can get the cash together. Cheers

Not to deflect the original question.....however, you may also wish to look at the Benelli M2 i.e. if you haven't already. As inertia guns with ease of maintenance, they aren't bulky, provide excellent balance and swing very well, at least for me :) Being used to sxs and o/u exclusively, I first tried the Baikal MP-153 gas auto-loader (very good impression) and subsequently acquired an M2 last year.....to me, in an auto this is the best of both worlds.
