I just picked up an old wby Mauser in 7 wby. I did a little research and discovered date of mfg is 1955 and it's an fn action. I don't see too many of these around, anybody got one? It looks like a great rifle, this one's a little rough on the outside but pristine on the inside.

I guess the cool factor for me is that this is a true Roy Weatherby creation from his hay days.

Does anybody have experience with these? I'm not gonna ask about value because I probably paid too much and it's not for sale! :). I'd sure like to find one in .257 or .300 wby.

Sweet. I have seen them in 300 and 257 and listed in 375 for a fair chunk of change. 7mm is a great Wby caliber and often overlooked. Congrats on the piece of history.

Hi there, new member here, I also have an FN Weatherby in 300 Magnum, picked up a number of years ago at a gun show in Penticton, B.C. Previously owned a Mark V, regretted having to sell it for financial reasons, so had been on the lookout for another 300. Hadn't seen the Mauser action Weatherby before, or since for that matter, very impressive fit and finish. Nice to know there are other survivors. Unfortunately for various reasons I haven't fired it yet, one day hopefully.

As Dan said, when these were submitted to very high pressures, they sometimes developped (internal) lug setback. Check the headspace to see if yours still in good condition.

You should have the Sako trigger on yours, one of the nicest trigger ever made on Mausers. Sako was the supplier of these actions, and even might have made your barrel.
