Just received my Weatherby Vanguard Select 300 win mag with a 26 inch barrel from Prophet River (a great store!), new for 2018 the Vanguard in 257 wby. mag, 6.5-300 wby. mag, 7mm Rem mag, 300 win mag and 300 wby. mag now comes with a 26" barrel.

Weatherby Vanguard and Howa 1500 are the same rifle, the only big difference is how the vent holes in the bolt are oriented.

I know, I was just using Howa 1500 as a "cover all" term, as they are all made by Howa.

Hitzy seems to know more about the small differences and there are a few of them--though nothing that would favour one over the other.

I would love a Weatherby Vanguard S2 in 300 Win Mag with a 26" barrel! I already own 3 WVS2's .... lol ... what is one more to the family!

Same family here; three in the safe already, and got a 300 Win in stainless a few weeks ago but haven't had it to the range yet.

One disappointment was the polymer magazine follower, but am expecting nothing less than MOA accuracy, and complete dependability, just like the rest of them.

Received my 300 Weatherby Lazermark with the 26" barrel a month or so ago from Prophet River and it is a wonderful accurate rifle to shoot, definitely lives up to its sub MOA guarantee.

Now that the 26” barrel and trigger issues are taken care of, all they have to do is get the mag box length up to 3.600” or more.

I have a Stainless Vanguard with a 26" barrel in 257 Weatherby Magnum.
It shoots the 115 Partition into ½" for 3 at 100M.
Big charge of IMR 7977 gets great velocity as well. I'm quite happy with it.
